Well I was a Marlboro red smoker for 37 years and now am on day 71 smoke free. It really depends on how you used to smoke but I would recommend something in the line of an ego or riva with a fluxo or stone. Here are a couple of links to help you out.

COMPLETE Electronic Cigarette Kits for New Users - GotVapes.com

As far as juice goes its a trial and error thing. I have never been able to get that exact marlboro taste but I sure have found lots that I like. You can go tobacco, fruity, bakery ...menthol...the sky is the limit just purchase from an ecf vendor and you will be fine. Welcome and I hope to see you at your year smoke free anniversay.

For people new to vaping, I recommend getting a good kit that is as close to smoking as possible. While the vapor will keep you from craving e-cigs, the "act of smoking" is difficult to get over.

I started with a standard cig sized kit and was really happy with it. For a first kit, the VapeShot starter kit comes with everything you need. This kit is "510 style" which means it has male threads on the cartomizers. This is the most compatible style so you can get a bigger battery or other things later and everything will work.

VapeShot ships free and shipping is same-day or next day depending when you get your order in.

For juice, check out V4L. Their juices are relatively in expensive and they have good flavors. The "cowboy" flavor is meant to be close to Marlboro and is available in different strengths

I am recently new to vaping, I much prefer it and so does my lungs lol. I myself like most of the tobacco like flavors except for the deserty ones find them a little perfumy. My favorite is 555, lighter flavor. Try that maybe you will like it as well. I liked marlboro's as well but found the "cowboy" to be nothing like it, I found it difficult to detect any flavor

Hi anthrax and welcome. A little more info will help with recommendations- how much you smoke per day and what are you looking for in a pv.

I am on my phone so I can't provide links right now. If you don't smoke much and want something small, I would go no smaller than a 510 model. If you smoke more or feel that battery life may be an issue... Really the minimum I would suggest but some insist on cig size... I would say ego model. This is what I have with 2 650 may batts and they each get charged once a day. or if you like gadgets and want to jump in head first with a high power mod I would sugget the infinity pro or buzz pro. I have been eyeing/drooling over the I pro. It's just so pretty! Only a matter of time before I crack and order it.

I'm not much help with juice. Mine has all been bought locally or diy.

So if you can give us a little more info, we can better tailor some suggestions for you, and maybe someone can provide some links. :)

Please forgive any typos. Auto correct hates me.

Honestly if your gonna spend $50+ on a kit to vape I can not recommend anything but a kgo kit and single coil smoketek 1.7 ohm carto's. If ya wanna spend a bit less for a smaller PV to try out you can look at the Volt which will vape decently for less cash to give ya an idea what your looking at as far as vapeing goes but the Kgo would be my first choice.

I am willing to try any highly recommended liquids except for that dessert stuff.

I'm not a fan of the dessert stuff either. Coffee is good, vanilla is ok, anything sweet is yuck. You should try a few vendors for juice. It might take a few tries to get 1 you realllly like. Juice doesn't really cost that much and vendors will send you samples for almost nothing.

Anthrax,

I have a Joye 510 starter kit, manual batt, black with blue LED. Possibly what you're looking for? Got it here E-Liquid and Electronic Cigarette Shop - Category Listings, ran me $35.99 after clicking the 20% discount button in the upper right. They have other starter kits as well and seem to be highly recommended around here.

My PCC for this particular model came from EcigCharleston.com Welcome. Went with the larger style PCC rather than Joye's.

Hi Anthrax. I'm new here and I spend more time reading than posting. The amount you learn is strictly up to you. You can take it as far as you want to. There are lots of friendly people here ready to help with questions and give advice but a PV is a very personal thing. What one person loves, another person hates. I started with the Joye 510 and a week later upgraded to the ego for more battery life. Enjoy the ride and welcome to the forum.

Thank you to everyone for your suggestions, I am now purchasing a JOYE 510 - STANDARD BUNDLE from liberty flights. Ahead lies a long road of vaporization :)

Just wondering: is there anything else that I should know about my vaporizer or any common knowledge or etc.?

I suggest you get backups of everything, cartos/atty, batteries, chargers, lots of juice, a few dip tips and drink lots and lots of water so you don't get dehydrated.

Welcome & congratulations on your transition to vaping! I think you've chosen a good kit, but you might find the 3-pc setup a bit cumbersome (that's with a separate atty & cartridge) and prefer cartomizers. This isn't a problem, the 510 can use either one, but I notice that's what the Joye kits come with. As another poster mentions, Crystal Clear Vaping has a great deal on 15 cartomizers (cartos) for about $20 or $21 I think for the Boge. You'll need the standard resistance 3.0 ohm. Also you mentioned getting a fairly low nic e-liquid; if you're used to Marlboro Reds I'd go with at least some 2.4%, probably some up to 3.6% if available. I'd suggest getting a range, from say 1.2 - 3.6%, and maybe a little variation in PG/VG ratio of 60/40 to 80/20, all of this in small, sample sizes (6ml or smaller) 'til you see what you like. You may be amazed by some of the things you love that you'd have thought would taste terrible. Best of luck, & Happy Vaping! :vapor:

I vape pretty much continuous on my days off. Means big batts and tanks. But, if I were just starting out I'd look at Riva batts, 3 inch, (have no idea what mAh they are), and eGo Stardust carto's. For a light smoker like yourself, probably the shorter battery would be enough to last all day. The Stardust only holds 1.4mL eLiquid, but that would last a light smoker a couple days at least. The cheapest way to try several different eLiquids is to buy other people's discards in the Pay it forward section. While finding your regular eLiquid it's probably best to drip to the atty. No sense filling a container just to try a juice. JMHO

Cheers,
otrpu

I think the 510 sounds just about perfect for the smlirt you smoke. You should ne cry happy with it.

More advice is stick around here and read, read, read. You will pick up a lot of info. Especially look at the stickies at the top of each forum... They are stickied for a reason. ;) if you come up wout any more questions don't be shy!
