Howdy folks.

Yesterday was not a fun afternoon. Mrs E had to work, so she dropped the kids off with a friend who took Kat to softball practice for us (her daughter is on the travel ball team too). I leave work, get home, get into the van to go get Melanie and CJ to drive back to Clover for the post season coaches meeting. When I get there, Melanie is holding her wrist and is covered in red clay. It was obvious she had fallen. It turns out, that she was running down a hill after being told not to. Not to mention the hundreds of times Ive told her to not run down a hill, especially one covered in wet grass while wearing flip-flops. Naturally, she knows more than any adult, so all warnings went ignored, and she fell. Hard. When she stood up, she couldnt move her wrist. One of the coaches from the travel ball team is a firefighter and trained EMT. He looked at it before I got there and said he thought it may be broken. I looked at it, and I didnt think it was too bad, probably just sprained. So, I cleaned Mel up, then loaded up her and CJ, and made the 30 minute trip to the meeting. At one point, she came up to me holding her wrist still, and I looked closer at it. It looked like her hand was offset from her arm. I thought, yep, thats a break. Texted Mrs E at work, and she found someone to cover the remainder of her shift, came to get Melanie, then took her to the Urgent Care. UC told her that she would be better off going to the Orthopedic Urgent Care 15 minutes away, and they would be open for an hour more. She gets there, and the sign clearly says M-F, 8a-9p, but they were closed. The reason they were closed, was because they hadnt even opened their doors for business yet. So, it was off to the ER. Meanwhile, I drive the 30 minutes back to go get Kat and her friend to take her friend home from practice. It was only two round trips. :glare: So, the docs look at Melanie's wrist, and like me, is convinced its broken, probably in her growth plate. They do the x-rays, and are astonished that there is no break. Not even a hairline fracture. It was just the nastiest sprain they had ever seen. So now, Ive got Kat in a knee brace, ankle brace, with a gash on her right calf. Ive got Melanie with a wrist brace and a warning saying to not move the wrist at all, or there would probably BE a break. And CJ's in football camp. Thats safe. I mean, what are the odds of getting injured playing football? No one gets injured playing football. Im going to put all three of them in a freaking giant bubble. Separate, of course. Its bound to be cheaper than the amount of money we've shelled out for doctors.

Wow, James. The bathroom sounds like a nightmare. I'd be pretty upset too. I'm a good painter because I'm the only one in the house that will do it.

I'm home from cleaning Granny's house. Now to clean mine.

I do the same but no one is ever there and no one has posted.
Youre hired. Meet me in Clover anytime after July 6th. I'll supply the paint and materials AND cook for you. Feel free to bring Morgan to keep Kat company.

I dont go over there much any more. I try to when I have time, but no one ever posts there any more.

Happy Friday the 13th!
Under a full moon!

That reminds me of one of our more unusual nights at sea. We had just left Puerto Rico after a weapons exercise, getting all of our certifications done before deployment. On the way home, we entered the Bermuda Triangle. On October, Friday the 13th, under a full moon, in the new millenium. If youve ever been to sea, you know that even calm seas have even a slight undulation, plus the surface ripples from the wind. Not that night. The sea was literally smooth as glass. Not a cloud in the sky (which is another unusual occurance in the Caribbean). No wave. No wind. No clouds. Full moon. The only sound was the thrum of the ship's engines. It gave me the creeps being out on deck in those conditions.

I wish I could find a picture of a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End that was a pretty accurate copy of what we saw that night. If youve seen the movie, its the scene where the ship is sailing to the end of the world, and the water nearly perfectly mirrored the sky so well, you couldnt tell where the sea ended and the horizon began.

Uh oh. Something bad must be happening soon. Douche Canoe is getting us a Keruig and K-cups....

13 the it is. One of hubby's friends are here to help lay the carpet. Joy he gave me no warning. I'm doing the best I can to help. But I can hardly move.

Drott's dog shack on the move.
Cant like that Drott. I know how bad back pain can be. I deal with it every day of my life. I hope it eases up soon.

Good grief James! Poor kids. Hope they're better soon and that CJ doesn't get injured. I'll pack the car and paint for you since your cooking.

So guess who ended up unrolling and cutting the carpet. Grrrr.

Drott's dog shack on the move.

That's not good at all. You should be resting.
