My mother had and used a pressure cooker a fair bit when I was a kid. How do they compare with crock pot cooking?
Much, much faster. I use mine when I'm home to cook, but the crock when I'll be late getting home.

What FV said! :) Much faster! I can cook a beef stew that tastes like it's been cooking all day in about a half hour. Assuming the veggies and meat are all prepped and cut up. The meat falls apart and the potatoes and carrots are nice and soft. I usually cheat and use frozen veggies. :p

Chuck roast, one can of cream of mushroom soup, one packet of Lipton Onion Soup mix, about 1/2 C. water so it doesn't stick. Let it go all day, shred it and serve. At our house it's called String Beef, named by a foster son.
Sounds wonderful. My favorite kind of ingredients. What do you serve with it if anything?

I just want to throw things in a pot and cook it until Mr Crabbypants gets home...We eat at 4...Yeah because he won't eat after 5.He won't eat bread either. It's not supper if you don't have bread with it. That's my humble opinion.Apparently bread is not good for you.I don't care..

I checked it out. It has 18 different pork recipes to try. I hate chicken. Everything is always to cook with chicken. Pork has been so cheap lately. I bought a pork loin for a little over 5 dollars tonight. Now I just have to gather the spices and stuff to season things with.I have no spice rack..I did find a Chesapeake recipe for a steam boil. It has Shrimp, sausage chunks, corn on the cob and potatoes seasoned with Crab boil seasonings. I'm makng that sometime this week. You just throw everything in the crockpot except for the shimp. They go in 30 minutes before you serve it.

Good evening! We had a lumber yard run to do after work so we just walked in the door. One more project to finish up before the snow flies, and we are cutting it a bit close. I'm excited about this one, there is a drafty old garage door in the back of the work hut and it is leaving. Instead there will be a wall with a nice window. I'll see the snow, but it won't be drifting under the door anymore.
