This post is only a bit related to the topic, but I like to toot my own horn occasionally so here it is:
    My vaping page said:
this has guestimatedly cost me about 5.6% of more than $13,773 that hasn't been spent on at least 1,864 packs, or about 1.91 miles worth, of cigarettes and 27 ounces of tar.
I use PHP scripting to come up with the different numbers, which are all based on how much I smoked and how much I paid for a pack of cigs.

I'm ashamed to say that it's been a few years since I've stepped foot in a vape store. The ones near me were always lacking and way over price.
It was 5 or 6 years ago when I was helping a young guy set up his vape shop. He wasn't even putting much on the shelves yet. That's the only 'real' vape shop I've ever been in. I was in the smoke shop to get another pack and ended up walking out with an eGo/CE4 starter kit - Vapor Cigarette 650 | Tasty Puff

Last time I calculated it (about two years ago), to just vape it cost me $6.38 a month. This is the cost of the nic concentrate, PG/VG base, flavorings, wire & cotton used in a 30 day time period averaged over a 6 month period (yes I tracked it - bet with the wife which we agreed to disagree on who won).

I should go through the exercise again as at the time I did it I only factored in the cost of the 2 litter bottles of Nic I had, since I now have a lot more that I bought, and the places I was buying my other supplies have changed, the number will probably change a bit too but not by much.

FYI on the bet I mentioned with the wife, after a "spirited" discussion I bet her that it cost me less then $10 a month to vape. The terms of the bet were if I won, she bought me a new mod, if she won, I bought her a new pair of shoes (not really fair as her shoes were a lot more then the mod). So I tracked everything and presented my number of $6.38 and declared victory! She then went in and added in all of the Mod/RDA purchases (I had a bit of the Shinyitis at the time) and declared she had won.

I bought her, the shoes and myself the mod and left it at that.............

    Good thinking. :)

While I have no idea what a pack of smokes costs currently, when I quit smoking I was spending ~$200 a month on them. (~$2400 a year)

Like you my other half was dismayed at the seemingly constant stream of vape related deliveries. While they have slowed to less than a handful a year, I tend to always go back to the numbers above to justify my purchases. :)

I do like your idea of spending as much or more on her. :)

Years ago I settled on two styles of mods, (Provari & Caravela), and since have only bought when on sale.
The result is that with all that 'shiny' money the wife has all new appliances in her kitchen, a new roof on the house, and a new furnace & AC .

Sure glad I didn't have to spend all that money on smokes!
