All the cotton you see that is bright white has been bleached with something. From my understanding all organic cotton is bleached in hydrogen peroxide. I can't find any information claiming any differently at least. And i know for a fact that cotton growing in a field is not the same bright white color as the cotton you find in the bags at your local pharmacy, so something has to be used to make it that color.

Have you used that exact one?
I got that same pack off of Amazon last week, but haven't cracked it open yet.
Bought it on a whim to push my order over the free shipping limit. :D

I have gotten the Muji from Amazon US in that exact package shipped from Japan. It is good cotton and wicks well

I would not. Ioek does market an organic line, but this is not listed as organic. As such, it may have bleach or hydrogen peroxidenin thr cotton.

Hydrogen peroxide is extremely light sensitive which is why it is sold in dark containers. Since it will lose its cleaning/sterizing ability if stored in clear containers. Hydrogen peroxide breaks down safely into water and oxygen so your cotton bleached with hydrogen peroxide contain zero hydrogen peroxide...because it is dry... ....... and what is left is sterile and clean cotton. Organic will not be healthy if it will contain bacteria...and in my opinion most of those "things" marketed as organic are fake organic anyway...

An unopened bottle of hydrogen peroxide has a shelf life of at least one year.. but pour it into open container and leave in sunny place for a day or two and peroxide and water will MAGICALLY ;) disappear leaving clean empty container... Risk of using cotton that was bleached by hydrogen peroxide is in my opinion the same as risk of using distiled water to wash your tank and drying it with air...

Hydrogen peroxide has been used as an antiseptic since the 1920s because it kills bacteria cells by destroying their cell walls...I used 3% Hydrogen Peroxide for gargling to fight gum inflammation without any problem...

If you see it in person you can tell. It has a brown hue to it. Once you place a freshly picked cotton ball next to a processed one the difference is obvious. That is why they bother with the whitening process in the first place. If it was pure white off the plant they wouldn't need a whitening process.

A lot of cotton bleached using hydrogen peroxide is done so using glucose oxidase enzymes to produce hydrogen peroxide.
After the hydrogen peroxide stage, an alkaline activation process is used to complete the bleaching.
Trace amounts of chlorine can be found after this process.

Just sayin'.........
