I use cotton, always have. Cotton bacon to be exact. I don't mess with my rebuildables much lately but, yeah I've always used cotton. I've read plenty of posts expounding the benefits of rayon but what's the real difference? I mean at the most essential level, is one any better than the other?

Oh, COOL! I'm just here to watch the show. Hopefully, ECF still has some spunk in it. :D ;)

I much prefer cotton, just for the record (and "Volts taste better!").

Hi mate,
Rayon;
1. I think it telegraphs a low juice condition very well. When the taste changes, it's time for a squonk/refill.
2. When I do get the inevitable dry hit, Rayon seems to not kick my .... as hard as cotton (horrid, evil, toxic blegh!)
3. Rayon seems more tolerant of my wicking mistakes, flavor wise. Whereas I find cotton to taste of socks if not wicked "perfectly".

buy a meter of rayon and try it out.
If I wasn't in Spain, I would happily send you a meter to give it a go.
Rayon Folks: lil help?

Cheers
I

I've only used cotton in factory coils, I picked rayon when I started building. I think the rayon makes some juices taste different than cotton, which may be better or worse, YMMV. It doesn't get burnt like cotton when it has been in use for a while. I mostly have to change it out when the coil has too much crud on it.

I do like the Sally's rayon form factor. Those ropes are just about right for 4-5 wicks at a time. They make a "Puffs" tissue size box that will last you several years. Get the model 44130 CelluCotton if you order it.

I am a Provarinati Rayonati.

The only way to find out if one is "better" than the other is to try it for yourself (but learn how to use it before you make your decision because different materials require different techniques).

I question that cotton bacon is actually cotton. It doesn't look, feel, taste or act like cotton. Some folks have said they think, if there is real cotton in it, it's a cotton/cellulose blend, which seems likely.

All of the above :) The only real way to know is to give it a try. Check PM. :)

    Rayon for me.

Better is subjective. Personally, I use Cotton Bacon Prime for my larger coils and KGD for my smaller coils. Severeral times, I've tried the Cellucotton you buy at Sally's or Amazon and didn't like it. To me, it had a "woody" taste.

Why "several times"? Because I wanted to make sure I wasn't being too hasty. I wasn't. ;)

Cellucotton is cheap. You can get a 40 ft. coil box for about $6 at Amazon. The good thing about Amazon is, if you don't like it, you can return it and get a refund.

A word of advice: If you're going to order from Amazon, be sure to check if you're getting the 100% cotton or the rayon. There's a 15 ft. coil box that is not rayon.

You are batting 0.500, not bad for an ole guy. Everyone, with refined taste, has long understood that Watts rule the world of taste.

I've tried both Rayon and Cotton. For how I vape, I prefer Cotton. Muji Cotton Pads to be specific.

I find Cotton Pads are Much Easier to Work with. And while Rayon may have a Extremely Slight edge taste wise, it Isn't enough to make any Real difference. To Me.

Everyone told me a Main Reason I should use Rayon is because it Wicks Better. That I wouldn't get Dry Hits. Or at least, Not as many. But with the Watts/Airflow/e-Liquid I use, I Don't get Dry Hits with Cotton. So I see it kinda like putting VR Speed Rated Tires on a Toyota Prius. Sure, Better Tires. But Not something that I benefit from.

Maybe if I was trying to push things Harder Wattage and Chain Vaping wise I would see Rayon as a Plus?

So as other have Mentioned, the Only way to know if something works "Better" is to give it a Try and see how it works for You.

Only fault I have with cotton bacon and it's minor, has a "new cotton " taste for the first few hits.

For me, it doesn't taste enough like bacon.

Personally I thought the bacon cotton sucked. It has the feel of course sandpaper. Cotton Man's cotton feels like fine silk in comparison. In my personal opinion, it wicks better and offers supreme flavor over every other cotton I've tried (I tried many). :)

I also prefer Tidi medical grade rayon balls.

Speaking of lousy bacon, my GSD's can't stand imitation bacon.

I caught Buster in the backyard eating his own production the other day. He was laying in the snow just chomping away on frozen turd balls. His eyes glazed over, squinting, like it was the tastiest thing on earth.

    I am still recovering.
