Cotton wick vs silica wick different ratios

Hey all,

I've been using cotton wick for 2 full moons now..
But my batch tends to taste differently when I use silica wicked tank..
Am I the only one who has this problem?or is there any formula that I should follow between each wick?

I'm using cotton for gauzes..haven't tried cheese cloth though..
Hopefully my batch won't taste so much diffrent when I switch tanks..or trade juices among my friends..
