Running a brand new Caravela mech, with a Tugboat atty. Using IMR 18650s with a 20A. Running the Tugboat in single coil mode, and I am leaving the second airhole open since I prefer the airy draw. Really nice device. It is put together perfectly..The switch is fantastic and is really a step-up from my Nemesis clone (rice pin fell out the first day). I am having a problem with cotton wicking. I run some Japanese cotton through the micro coil, making sure that I don't twist it. Center it and cut it to a good length, and wrap it under the coil. I do make sure that the coil has plenty of room to breathe. However, I am finding that I have to really load it up with juice after 2-3 hits. When I look at the cotton on the refill, the stuck hanging down is still saturated with juice but isn't wicking. What could cause this? Is it the fact that I am running 0.7 ohms causing it (heating up faster than it can wick, I am using suicide bunny juice so there is some thick VG in it)? A little stumped. It does taste great, but the dry hits just seem to come very rapidly. If refilling every 3 hits is what I gotta do for now, I'll do it. But I am searching for a solution.

You run too much. Stop running while vaping....

What's the problem exactly ? Do you want it to wick easier? Make sure your liquid is not too thick and your wick inside your coil is not too tight. Otherwise just drip it when needed. Maybe try different cotton for a change but I don't think it will make a huge difference.

The problem is that at the bottom of the cotton, the juice just sits there. I now drip almost exclusively on the coil. I have a feeling I am cooking off juice before it can wick up more. It isn't a huge problem - A fix would be nice but dripping every 2-3 hits isn't bad since I am getting great flavor.

Have you thinned out the tails at all? With rayon, thinning the tails helps tremendously.

JeremyR, resident rayon expert, said it very well: your tails are like the roots, and the the coil houses the "trunk" of the wick. Juice should flow from the thinner, to the thicker part of the wick.

I had the same problem: I would need to redrip every few hits, despite there being plenty of juice in the RDA. Now, using rayon and trimming my tails well enough, I can easily go 30+ hits before redripping.

You've got to give the juice a reason to flow towards the coil, and more wick density might do the trick. If this isn't a thing with cotton, somebody tell me off and then ignore me.

In some cases too much wick is too much.
Cotton expands as it get wet so if it's too tight when it's dry it wont be able to conduct liquid when wet and you'll be basically only vaping the liquid from the sides of the coil.
Make sure the wick is loose inside the coil, put one lead under the coil and cut the other.
