I'm trying to get the dear wife to try vaping. Each time I have offered her a hit off of various devices she coughs like crazy. She's not direct inhaling it, she's not taking a long hit either, just a normal drag as if it was an analog. In fact, the last couple of times she took a small drag and still coughed and coughed and coughed. I've tried different flavors too.

I haven't tried anything VG-based for her but that's afoot as I have some VG-based on order.

I need help, guys. A few more coughing fits and she'll never raise an e-cig to her lips again. This is not an open-minded, try try again kinda woman.

Does anybody have any experience with this? I took to vaping as if I was changing analog brands, painlessly. My son took to it the same way, painfree and easy.

I saw where Miss Vapour (I think it was) mentioned PEG. I don't know what that is or where to find it but I wonder if that's an option for my coughing bride.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

RG great thread
My wife has the exact reaction when she Vapes MY 3.7v or ofcourse my 5v and 6v's , she is a vapor as long as I am, 8 months, and she vapes the same juice (24mg and 36mg) as I do, although, she uses much much different cigs than I do, I use all the higher voltage stuff and she uses
8084, pilot, now 801 and a super, but has no problems at all, with them

MY guess is she draws softly and slowly and never seems to suck in,,
I am not suggesting your wife does not know how to draw on these things, but it does take some getting used to.

I know I was not helpful, just sympathetic, I understand what you are going thru, If she wants to do it, she will work with it til she gets it,
If she is not ready, she will always have a great excuse

It might be the PG. Try some non PG juice and cut it with VG. She may have an allergy to the PG.

Sounds familiar to me. My husband tried my e-cig a few times, and went into a coughing fit each time. He was a heavier smoker than I was, so that surprised me. But I had been used to home-made menthol analogs (talk about harsh), and was using pretty strong menthol in the e-cig, too. Husband does not like menthol. I finally got him to try an e-cig of his own that had never had any menthol juice in it whatsoever. I tried him on 555, and lo and behold he is on his third day of using it!! Yippee! He is also one of those "won't try, try again" type of people, so I am very relieved that he did give it another go.

I am going to be of a different mind as I have watched my boyfriend when he tried my e-cig -- and what I was seeing is that he was trying to "inhale" it like it was a regular analog. Each time he choked and coughed until I thought that he was ready to just keel over. He said that e-cigs were not for him. Of course I can't blame him after these experiences.

But then tonight, he was really craving a cig -- so I handed him my e-cig, and reminded him that it needed to be a soft, SLOW, draw ... for the FIRST TIME I saw him do it right -- and also for the first time I saw him not try to cough up a lung!
Some of the "old time" regulars (sorry guys and gals, don't mean to make you sound "old)" have mentioned a "learning curve" -- and I think that is totally correct. Inhaling is not exactly like what one does on a regular cig.
Let your Wife know this ... but even more important ... let her know that this is HER decision!!!

I smoked for over 30 years, and if anyone even mentioned cutting back -- well, I would smoke twice as much! IF she wants to quit cigs, or change to e-cigs, it will be because it is HER CHOICE. She really will need to feel THAT choice BEFORE she tastes or feels anything else.

Bristow, Ok.
My husband did the same thing. He kept saying that he really wanted to do this. I just couldn't understand why he couldn't do it without coughing. I began to think that he really didn't want to do it. He finally admitted that he just liked smoking and didn't want to quit. He could have just told me without hacking up a lung.

I purchased the e-health cigarette and it came with a 10 pack of med nic mrlb cartridges. The initial cartridges on the ecig were tobacco flavored w/ no nic. I absolutely LOVED them. Then, the cartridges expire and when I replace with the med nic, i started to cough and cough. I'll definetly be ordering more of the tobacco flavored no nic. Any comments/suggestions??? Thanks.

Thats so funny..I think my hubby is the same way too..just not ready to quit..I keep making him try my new flavors. and he just rolls his eyes and tries it..

He said it seems like too much of a hassle to switch b/c of all the problems I've experienced w/atomizers and batteries etc..I guess I can't totally blame him
