Now, I know you guys are going to tell me to go to the doctor for this, which I will. My appointment is on April 21....

That said, I've been coughing up tiny amounts of bright red blood the last couple of days and, seeing as how I had the same problem last year before I began vaping, I'm a little concerned.

Maybe it has nothing to do with vaping since I was coughing up blood before I even started, but COULD it be related to vaping? I'm also having mild chest pains and wheezing, and my friends tell me I look pretty pale. I've also had fatigue.

As convinced as I am (so far) that I do not have lung cancer (I AM only 30 years old, after all), I must admit that both my maternal grandmother and my mother passed away from lung cancer in their mid-50s.

So......what do you guys think this could be from? I doubt there are any doctors on this forum, but I wanted to see if anyone has any insight so I kind of know what I'm dealing with before I see the doctor.

Thanks!

So Cal
I would google it. Does your doctor know you're coughing up blood, because if so I'm very surpised you have to wait that long for an appointment.

As this is a problem you had before you began vaping, I think you know the answer to your question! I would call and try to get an earlier appointment.

Hope you feel better soon!

We can't guess what that is. And that needs to be checked out before April 21st. "Coughing up blood" is an emergency room trip concern, not a wait a few weeks for a regular MD appointment concern. Not the answer you want, but the only one I can give.

When you scheduled this April 21st appointment did you make them aware of this? I can't believe they would have made you wait weeks to be seen if you told them this is what's going on.

Yeah I'm in agreement that this should be an ER visit. They can run a number of test on you to determine or omit certain things before you ever see your doctor. You may even need to be hospitalized and not know it. The fatigue is interesting in that it could be a symptom of blood loss (found in internal bleeding, blood loss). Or it could be a symptom where the lungs aren't getting the oxygen out to the body. It doesn't matter what I guess at because only a Doc and his team of experts can really find out what's going on. Did you tell them when you called for the appt. that you were coughing up blood, how often, and how much; also that it was fresh blood? They may tell you to go to the ER. I'd be concerned, 30 or not with a history of lung cancer it doesn't discriminate due to race, age, or sex. Please seek immediate care!

Not a doctor, for sure, but I have seen more than my and your and your fair share.......

I have to wonder if it is sort of the same thing, as gross as it sounds, as if it was from the other end..... Bright red means local, small capillary bursts, whereas dark red/black means more serious internal rupture?? That is what I have been advised, at least.

I wouldn't hesitate to take a ticket at the ER carousal, however, as we all only have one of these things called life to play with.

Hope OP finds it is all OK in the end (or front).

I think it can be from dehydrated capillaries rupturing in your esophagus, I would think you are an avid or hard cougher or run a lot. I would go to the doctor like asap because it can be anything without (labs, chest x-rays, cardiogram, and or CT-scan). BTW You can have lung cancer at any age, cancer does not pick and choose age.

Is there an urgent care facility (not hospital ER) in your area? We have several here. They are staffed with excellent doctors and the care is better than your normal ER and not so long sitting around waiting to be seen. If I were coughing up blood, I would want to be seen immediately. You need to call your doctor first thing in the morning and see if he will get you in. If they can't do that go to urgent care or ER.
