Covering the LED

I am wondering if anyone has found an appropriately sized black cap to fit over the LED of a 510. Something like the cap the fits over the cart-condom of a 901 cart. It seems that regardless of how non-analog the blue LED looks, it may get to a point where stealth vaping is all that is possible, given the current gov't climate.

I don't want to permanently cover the LED, as it is useful for indicating batt life, but a cover might be a good idea in some sensitive situations. Of course I could look myself, and likely will, but perhaps someone has already done the leg work here.

i would thing a rubber cap that comes on prefilled carts might fit. might have to spray paint to the color you would like..

I found this video on youtube that is complete opposite of what you want to do, but maybe you can color of put something in and make it invisible perhaps?

I have a manual battery and just cover the end with my hand when i hit it with the goal of "stealth vaping" lol It works good because you can still see the end flash when if its dead otherwise light goes out when you uncover and release the button... not quite what this is looking for but its my humble solution so far.

I would think something you would use to cap a thin pipe or something to cover up bolts would work...

I do this too with my hand, but you would be surprised how bright it can be in total darkness! And I find it to be kind of irratating, sort of like, hey look everybody, I'm not smoking, but I sure am up to SOME kind of no good!! Better come up to me and ask lots of questions and crash my private moment. IMHO there is zero reason to have a flashlight for a PV. Better would be a VERY small light (like 1% of the current end LED) on the side of the batt, preferably red, which could be pointed down or towards you when vaping.

In total darkness, the blue LED can actually shine from in between fingers wrapped around the batt.

A black instant rubber compound would do the trick I think. Just dip the batt in, pull it out with rubber on, let rubber set, then remove the new cap when you want to see the LED, like for checking or charging. Black acrylic paints might do this, as they just form a rubber.

The cap from a Sharpie extra fine or ultra fine will fit nicely over the LED on my 510. The extra fine also fits over the cart end, so I could use it to carry in a shirt pocket (cart end up), but for some reason the ultra fine will fit over the LED but not over the cart (it goes over, but doesn't "grab hold").

Thanks, Brachinus! That actually kills two birds with one stone, as I was also going to see about getting a pen clip for the pocket. Very nice! I'm near a Staples, so will give this a shot.

The only reason I've found for the annoying LED is alerting me on battery level and i can think of a few more discrete methods that this could be accomplished.

Honestly, does anyone enjoy the cheesy uneccesary LED on the end?

One thing to point out is that some batteries need to draw air through the bottom grey cap in order to function correctly.

Here is a way to cover up most of the light but leave a little for airflow. Just use the caps on the light end (grey caps end) instead of on top at the thread:

It does leave a pin hole of light but that is easy hidden by cupping your hand. I know this works cause I use it to stealth vape all the time. The caps also work on the 808 cartomizer models

I think i can plug the pinhole with a small piece of tape and paper, there doesnt seem to be airflow through the end on the 901 to restrict.
I also slapped a cap on all my spare batteries (thread end), I found myself pulling lint out of the connection a few times.

Yeah, I was worried, vaping in a movie, that people would see the blue glow coming from my fist.

I wrapped my hand around the LED end of my 901 in a pitch black room, vaped hard, and my friends said they could see nothing. You have to put the light in the hollow of your hand, nowhere near your fingers.

The 901 cart cap works very well! The little hole that still allows some of the bue light to shine through is minor, and easily covered. This will do me fine until something better comes along.
