I have a romisen rc-a8 torch, the same used as for the screwdriver. And I took it apart and everything. you can actually understand how to make one once you take it apart and watch how the magnum video, and wire the switch with one of two methods shown here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/7424-wiring-momentary-switch-help-needed.html I did used the second method shown by charlie cheese (thanks for all your help BTW). I used a stripped down piece of an old CD as the piece of hard plastic needed and dremeled the sucker to fit. One thing I really like about the SD clone is that it uses one beefy cr123a battery instead of the magnum's 2 cr2 batteries. But the drawback is that the magnum mod seems to me easier to do as you don't have to really cut into the body like the SD clone. Also the finished product of a magnum looks a lot cleaner IMO. I have found some small cr123a torches that look similar to the magnum, but they are only a 2 piece torch and are usually cree torches. And if the cree torches are anything like the SD clone torch the lighting housing would be fused to the body. Making a direct mod seem impossible without some hacking and slashing AFAIK. So I was wondering if there are any cr123a torches that bridge the gap between the SD clone and the magnum in terms of the ease of modding (magnum) and the convenience of one battery (sd clone).

There's also plenty of single aa cell size torches you could try to mod .And use a single 3.6v 14500 battery ,they are about the same capacity as cr123's .
Bastage was going to post a single 14500 mod ,I don't know where it is though .

Regards .

For others :-
The number system on these cells from china :- first 2 digits are dia in mm last 3 are length in mm.

YOU CAN use just one CR123 bat in a Magnum just find a piece of dowel that fits loosely in the pvc pipe cut it to 1/2 the length of a CR2 bat and wrap in tin/alum. foil and use as a spacer it works best on the plus side of the cr123 (because of the bump up) between the battery and the spring on the printed circuit board. You can also use two thumb tacks on each end of the spacer and run a wire to each one of them. You can also just stretch out the springs but they are pretty much maxed out with just one CR123 bat.
