Post here when you've slipped, and how long you've been vaping.

It would be nice if you mentioned how long it's been since you had one, too.

I went almost three days, but I also was at the bar after hours when I finally sucked an entire paper cig to the ground.

I'm almost ashamed, but still feel pretty damn good for going so long, and I can't say I really enjoyed the analog.

Its hard for me to post about this here as it appears to be gearedmore towards analog "quitters" and their attempts.

For myself, I have a different mindset regarding our beloved devices. I went into this without false hope, and with intentions of "reducing" and not quiting.

This was back in the beginning of December'08, where after a week and a half of vaping I found I reduced from 50-75 per day of analogs to only 12 per day on average (some days more, some day less).

I found that to be ASTOUNDING, as I've NEVER been able to have even cut half my intake with pills, patches or other garbage attempts.

So, I'm really happy about my achievements to date and I "MAY" some day quit them all together or I may not.

But, I'm a realist who realizes that every analog session replaced with a vape session is a huge healthier step forward for "ME", and after 35 years of heavy analog smoking this is a positive result.

Kudos to those who have made the switchover entirely (you have my envy), yet kudos also to those others who have managed to simply reduce their intake of analogs.

Greg

I tried to smoke an analog last night... and failed miserably. Like smokumchevy I didn't get into e-smoking as an attempt to quit smoking all together but it has more or less happened. However I was out last night and "a beer at 10:00" turned into "still at the bar at 2:30am" and my battery on my e-cig finally died. So I bummed a cig from a friend, lit up, and had to immediately put it out. It was such an awful taste and feeling! I wonder what's going on; why these things that used to taste so wonderful to me now taste so disgusting. Do you suppose it varies by brand of cigarette?

It is really strange now since I still crave a regular cigarette but now know I won't even enjoy it!!!

my sig says it all no analog at all in those times i find if you treat are beloved devices
like analog cig.
only vap in areas you can smoke and for only the length of a analog every 30 mins.
unless you chain smoked prior to vaping in which case your aloud a second dose which is to say no more then 20 mins of constant vaping between two devices
also fiqure your daily requirement of nic from analogs and get a little stronger.

Example is each analog had 1.8 mg of nic then your would get at least 2 mg of nic per ml
but kate is better with the math break down here.

My mindset is exactly the same as yours, Greg. I still like regular cigarettes and am not trying to quit them completely. I still have 4-5 a day, sometimes more if i want. My intention was to cut back and to find a way around smoking bans. It is working exactly as intended. If I happen to quit cigarettes altogether, then that's a bonus. It is, however, not my goal. Congratulations on cutting way back.

I didn't start smoking my e-cig to quit. I wanted to change to what I think is better for me. My transition took me six months and then I decided one morning I was done with the tobacco.

That said, I have been e-cig exclusively for one month. A week ago, I broke down and had a tobacco cig because I thought... heck... one in a month... that's fabulous. After smoking it... I had a hot flash. Felt sick. Had to lay down on the floor. I don't think I will be trying that again.

Oh... and I am smoking 18mg, so it surely wasn't the nicotine and the tobacco ciggy was my old brand. :(

It's interesting that all posts thus far are for people who never intended to quit smoking...

I hadn't had a real cigarette for two months since I started vaping. i smoked one last night after getting home from a tough math test. I enjoyed the first couple of drags immensely, but then I stated to feel dizzy and sick, and I felt this weird sensation in my legs, like blood vessels constricting or the carbon monoxide in my blood. I put it out after smoking half of it. I like nicotine, but I guess I don't like analogs anymore because they taste and smell nasty to me now, and make me feel like crap.

Hooray, I'll be less tempted since that last experience.:)

I am in with Greg and Sherid. I have reduced the analogs by about 80%
since Day 1 of vaping back in June 2009. Matter of fact, I am taking a
drive to a US reservation today to buy a supply of Native American
smokes that should last until later this year.

I'll admit, I wasn't looking for anything like this, but saw the mention of e-cigs on the sidebar of Yahoo.com. I had heard of them but thought they were just another gimmick. However, this link was to an article from CNN. I decided to do a bit more research and came across this forum. When I saw there were over 27,000 members, I knew it couldn't be a gimmick. I had been getting tired of the smell, the wife whining and going outside in -25 weather to satisfy my craving, so this looked to me to be a pretty good substitute. I also read a lot of the success stories.

The first week of vaping, I'd have 1 analog after every meal and maybe 1 or 2 a day besides that. The second week, I had just 2 on sunday afternoon while visiting my mother. Every Sunday I go see my mother in the afternoon and she takes care of my sweets fix for the week. She still likes to bake and loves when I come over and sample all the goodies. While I'm there, we enjoy a couple cigs together. Last Sunday, I had just one analog. So, this means I have had just 1 smoke this month. Tomorrow, I don't know. Can I "legally" say I quit smoking if I have just 1 cigarette a week?

I never started these to quit but it seems to have happened. I occasionally have one (by occasionally maybe 1 a month, or I'll skip a month) and it never tastes good. I find myself craving whatever else was in it almost immediately after putting it out. Like I could drop the e-cig and go back to cigs. I know how expensive cigs are though so I keep on going with my e-cig and don't worry about the cravings. If they get too much and I'm feeling stressed I go do some push ups and sit ups and relieve the stress that way.

Hubby and I went to Mohegan Sun this weekend (casino). For the first couple of hours I was having a hard time with the smell. It was really bothering me. Can't believe I used to subject people to that. However, by about midnight the repulsion turned to "God, I'd love to have one right about now!" Thankfully, I didn't because the last time I tried one (about 4 months ago) it made me feel really nauseous. I didn't want to ruin our night by making myself sick. I do think, however, that had I been with someone who smoked, I probably would have bummed one. Good thing that wasn't the case. It's amazing how insidious this addiction is. Sneaks up on you when you least expect it.

I agree with a few other posts, I get the urge for a regular cig every now and then as I didn't quit smoking because I wanted or needed to, I din not smoke much and enjoyed the taste and feel of it very much. I quit because I wanted to continue my habit without the health risk. I have been very please with my 510, I used it pretty much all the time, everyday! I have been vaping for close to a month now, and have tried only 3 cigarettes since then. I never finished one. They tend to make me feel dizzy and quite nauseous and dizzy after sometimes the first drag, and taste horrible, even my previously favorite kinds! I was a fan of hookah as well, but sometimes that gets to me as well. It wasn't nearly as difficult to 'start' smoking as it is to resume. Odd, isn't it? If only they weren't so bad for you I could still enjoy them, but I'm quite happy with my alternative! Newpure and Freedom from Halo mixed is amazing delicious, what I imagine a regular cigarette SHOULD taste like :]
