yes i know exactly what you're talking about.. im actually feeling it right now.. im 8 days smoke free.

yes you get the ritual and vapor but its just not the same.. the drag is different.. smell.. flavor.. head rush..

but just like anything new.. itll take time. your body needs to get used to the changes. i find that my cravings for analogs are getting less and less everyday. just keep at it! and more luck to you and me!

Somewhere out there
It takes some time before the cravings so away. Maybe 6-8 weeks for me. Now I just love vaping and don't want an actual cigarette, but I still get a oh I need a hit of something like an analog, even tho i don't really want an analog- ha ha then I vape
:) Try different flavors too, here are a few of my fav tobacco's Halo's Captain Jack, Tribeca, Prime. Copper Creek Twisted Tobacco. Having lots of aromatic tobacco flavors keeps me very happily vaping. Love Captain Jack. bnrk

To all of who have basically told me: Lighten Up/Stop Judging Yourself ... thank you! In the past, experiments with Nicotine Patches had satisfied the nicotine craving. Figured that an e-cig would take care of the rest (something to hold, puff on, etc.)

When that didn't happen, I judged myself.

One more vaporer telling you to lighten up on yourself. You seem to have the want to. The rest of it will come in time. Hang in there. It really does get better. One day you will find that you really do prefer vaping over smoking.

I was a 2 1/2 pad smoker what works for me is when I get up and want that first cig I fill my carto with wta liquid when that runs dry then I switch over to my tank thats filled with 24 mg nic only then I vape that until the urge for a analog comes again then I grab my wta so I switch back and forth though out the day.Thats what works for me..but everyone is differrent..I'm looking at a pack of my old friends right now but vaping insted. Its tough cause vaping is nothing like smoking and it takes a tremdous amount of willpower to make the switch..your at the right place though a lot good wise people on here that have been there

I gave up completely and had good and bad days where I wanted one. I was over 2 months cigarette free and then on NYE decided I would smoke that night... (dumb I know) the next day I was back to vaping exclusively. At first i felt guilty but now i look it at another way... if its really getting to you, making you emotional etc, just have a smoke... have a packet near you so you dont feel like you lost your best freind but still try to vape more, maybe you will find yourself reaching for that packet less and less. The other issue is finding a juice that tastes so good to you that you would prefer to taste that instead of a ciggy, now thats the hard part!!! Its a lot of trial and error finding those perfect juices. Good luck and dont give up on giving up just tailor your quit plan to do it slowly if that is what it takes. Especially while you are still experimenting with the right equipment and juices.

I think you hit on the key, MegaBee: finding a juice that tastes so good to you that you would prefer to taste that instead of a ciggy. When I do smoke one of my Marb Lights, it just tastes a lot smoother than the Dekang (tobacco flavor, 24mg nicotine).

I feel I made the correct choice of hardware (E-Power 14650) for me. It's powerful (1050 mAh batteries), a charged battery lasts 1.5 days, and a 2.0 ohm XL cartomizer lasts 2 days. Now to find the right juice!

I found my one and only juice vender freedomesmokes.com but they have an overwhelming choice of flavours, my tip is to try the vendors people rave the most about but only if you can purchase sample packs, most sell like 5ml bottles of 5 different flavours for around $15ish... trying many little sample bottles (most of these guys even the yukky ones are still vapable) thats how I eventually found my favourites. Unfortunately so far I found all cigarette sounding flavours to be revolting or so sweet I dont know how they get away with saying they are tobacco LOL I ended up finding a couple of awesome juicey flavoured ones, some very sweet desert flavoured ones and I am a very happy camper now :)

I went through the same thing and like yourself posted a thread about it, I recieved some great advice from everyone. Here is the link if you care to read it, you may find something that helps you along. Hang in there the cravings will pass in time, well mine did thankfully.
Analog Desire (I hope the link works)
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/257094-analog-desire.html

Thanks for the link, Echos. The replies to your post are quite similar to the posts to mine. Knowing that others have been where I am, and were successful (on their own terms), is really comforting. Especially since everyone's definition of "success" is different.

After 7 days, I feel so much better physically. I no longer cough up phlegm (even when I lay down to sleep). I have more energy. And my taste buds are returning. I used to buy 2 bags of Hall's throat lozenges a week, to try to control the coughing. Won't need those anymore, but I put one in my mouth the other day (honey-lemon flavor) and the taste just exploded in my mouth. What a revelation, and positive feedback that I had done the right thing for my body.

I smoked for 40 years, anywhere from 1 PAD to 3 PAD depending on the decade and environment at the time. When I tried my first e-cig I found an e-liquid that had a taste as close to my brand as I could possibly have hoped for, however, I found it too harsh and unsatisfying too. I started with 18 mg in a 50pg/50vg blend. What worked for me was to change the pg/vg ratio and up the nic. I changed my liquid to 24 mg at about 30/70 and it hit the spot!! Less craving, much more vapor, and a more pleasant TH. I FELT like I was smoking.

I also had to change a few habits . . . especially after mealtime. I would make an event out of sitting back with my PV and really making an enjoyable "after-dinner" vape out of it. A couple of weeks later, in the height of detox, I had about 2 days of craving, but my last pack of analogs was, and still is, in my frig and knowing I could smoke an analog anytime I wanted to, gave me the comfort not to. I haven't had a craving since and I have reduced my nic back down to 18 mg without changing the pg/vg ratio. I've tried changing up the flavors, but unsuccessfully. I still want the tobacco, menthol, with a touch of cocoa flavor.

Take time to think about what it is you're missing and then see if there can be some adjustments made to your vaping experience to get you covered. It sounds like the TH and peppery taste of the nic would be the place to start, but look further. And as everyone has said, if you smoke one once in a while, oh well . . . think of the ones you didn't!! It will work out . . . just take your time and move forward at your own pace.

Best of luck!!!!!!

Well , Welcome to ECF . I have been vaping for over 8 months now , and still several times a week , I get a sudden craving for a regular cigarette . I like you smoked over 45 years , and old habits take awhile to change . I started out with 24mg . like you , but now usually use 12mg . as a regular vape . I do keep a few bottles of 24 around for those cravings . After taking a few hits of the higher nic. juice , on a higher voltage (More Throat hit) the cravings go away and it's back to the lower nic. juice . If the cravings never goo away completely , so be it . At least I have a safer alternative than picking up a cigarette .

Lots of great advice has been given, but of course you have to find what will work for you. What is working for me is to not stress about the occasional analog, or the occasional pack. I went into this totally on a whim, and I was not committed to quitting, but I was committed to getting there. And I will. As it stands since 12/16 I have had 3 or 4 packs instead of almost thirty!!! I look at that as a phenomonal success. And I love vaping. Every time I smoke an analog I wonder why I am- it tastes horrible (always has to me) and I would much rather be tasting some bubble gum vape, or pina colada, or pomegranate blackberry blueberry.... you get the idea.

As far as a juice for you... I smoke marlb lights, and my local vape shop suggested USA mix. It is supposed to be close to the brand. I tried it, and actually had a tank of it loaded from the vape shop, but I opted for a non tobacco flavor juice because, like I said, taste of a cig was never what took me back to it. I am pretty sure I have seen USA mix on some sites, so it may be worth picking up a sample of it to try. It was a pretty good juice, just not the kind of flavor I was looking for.

Good luck, and don't give up!

You've received some excellent advice here, and you are definitely not alone! Hang in there! Smoking is as much a psychological addiction as it is a physical addiction. If you smoke an occasional analog to alleviate the cravings, it's not the end of the world. In fact, once you find the right juices, having an occasional cigarette will eventually begin tasting like licking the bottom of an ashtray. It is at that point that the psychological cravings will begin to subside.

Don't beat yourself up too much over buying some cigarettes. You went a week without and thats huge, but after smoking for 45 years theres bound to be some slip ups.

I started the e-cigs in October and did the same thing as you , but I never gave up on the e-cig. I smoked 5 analogs a day and vaped. After being a pack a day smoker cutting back to 5 was great for me. Eventually, it got to the point I just didn't want to smoke anymore and on New Years Eve made my mind up I would never smoke again. So far I have succeeded and love vaping and trying all the different juices.

Don't stop vaping, set your own goals and smoke a few if you need too. In time, one day you'll put those analogs down forever. Do this at your own pace and congratulate yourself for any progress you make. Take small baby steps if you need too. It worked for me.

Good luck!

JayPMac, I'm another one who posted here about craving analogs when I first started. I agree that finding the right flavor is the key. I also agree that you shouldn't beat yourself up! Every cigarette avoided is a victory! Do whatever works for you, and enjoy the journey. To paraphrase Aerosmith (who were quoting Ralph Waldo Emerson, I believe), vaping is a journey, not a destination ;)

hi

apparently there are things in cigs that ecigs don't give us. some people use snus in addition to vaping and there is a new liquid (wta) that has some of the stuff cigs do.

for me, my goal was to cut back from 2+ pad to 1 pad (I like to smoke - but the $$ was killing me). so I smoked and vaped ... after a few days I was down to 1 pad. after about 2-3 months I was down to 2 cigs a day. in fact, almost a year later and I still smoke 2 cigs a day (late at night). this is my choice, and I still consider myself successful in quitting smoking. I dont' want to be a bad influence but maybe quitting slowly would be better for you. when I started if I wanted a cig I vaped for a while first. then if I still wanted it I had it guilt free. for the hard ones, like the morning one I made myself wait and vape for 15 min....then 30, and so on til soon it was 1 in the afternoon before I had my first cig of the day.

I'm sure others will come with opinions too :)

This is the way I've been approaching it. Two thumbs up :toast:
