This is a long story, so I'm going to try to give a short version of it.
One of my pals (also a fellow vaper) was hunting this morning and our area got a pretty good snow storm today. He was at high altitude (about 6500 feet) and in rough country where he was asking more from his pick up than it could deliver even before the snow started. -
To shorten the story: he stuck his truck about 6 miles from the nearest farm, and by the time he gave up and needed help, he was in about 28 inches of snow. He strapped on his snow shoes and hiked out to call for help. -- On his way out, he encountered a moose which decided to rough him up (he's bruised and bloody but no broken bones). The moose knocked him around quite a bit over a fairly good sized area and he lost the contents of his pockets, including his new provari, in the snow.
After the moose encounter, he got to a farm house near the bottom of the trail and called me. I picked up another friend of ours and off we went to rescue our pal and his truck. - Again, in an attempt to shorten this, the truck rescue was eventful, but I'll leave it to your imagination (three guys digging, dragging, and winching a truck out of a bad spot).
On the way out, we stopped at the place where the moose beat the heck out of my friend. This is the cool part:
We spent about a half hour rummaging through snow with not much luck. It just led to frustration. --- I mentioned I picked up another friend of ours to help. Our other friend is a dowser - some would call what he does 'witching for water', but it isn't just water he can find. I've seen him dowse sapphires and section marker pins. There was a box of brazing rods in my pick up. he grabbed a couple, bent them over, and went to dowsing. In about 5 minutes, he had a pocket knife, a pair of glasses, a leatherman, and a provari in hand and we were on our way back to town.
