I've brought you another addition to Liquidhall's Crescendo private label range, fancy named "Tropic Splash". The flavour claims to combine flavours of coconut, lime and melon, with the well-known cooling effect that is a hallmark of the fruity flavours in the range. This time, they have created a harmonious combination of different fruits to deliver a vapour experience reminiscent of a truly tropical cocktail.

On the nose, the combination of melon and coconut was a bit unusual for me. The blend of the scents of the two ingredients is unique, but doesn't necessarily bring the harmony you would expect from a tropical cocktail.
Flavours: it starts with the familiar 'crescendo+ chill, followed by a strong cantaloupe, then on the exhale the melon mixes with the coconut and exits sweetly with the blown vapour.

The cooling effect on this flavour is less pronounced than the fruity versions we tested earlier, but it's just refreshing enough to provide a pleasant experience while gently cooling the throat and palate. At the heart of the flavour is melon, which blends harmoniously with soft, creamy notes of coconut on the exhale. This combined effect creates a unique combination that stands out from the average fruity flavours. The sweetness is moderate, pleasantly medium, but the sweetness is not the usual one: the melon flavour seems to have a honeyed tone. This aftertaste is pronounced and adds a particular depth to the overall experience. The honey character is well matched to the natural sweetness of the fruit, resulting in a richer and fuller flavour profile. The coconut is more of a complementary element, subtly taking a back seat to the other ingredients. I left the lime for last, however, as I unfortunately failed to discover its flavour during the steaming process. Presumably, the dominant presence of melon and coconut overpowered it, so I didn't taste the tart, slightly 'oily' character that lime usually has. This left me feeling a little lacking, as the freshness and acidity of the lime could have contributed greatly to the tropical cocktail feel.

Verdict: I was left with mixed impressions, but for those who like melon flavours, this is a truly unique experience. The soft presence of the coconut and the honeyed nuance create a unique combination that could make this a real speciality for lovers of fruity steams.
