Im new to this. I bought a cupti and some liquid tuesday and vaped the .5 coil in it for awhile doing mtl. It started tasting burnt so i swaped in the 1.5 coil. I tried some dtl and loved it. Well all the shop has is .5 coils. So i switched liquids last night and i switched the coil with it to a .5 (since thats all i have) and its killing the back of my throat and my lungs. And help or suggestions to help this?

Welcome and glad you joined cjsanders2010. About sub ohm coils:
"So seeing as I now have some good MTL (Mouth to Lung) tanks and repeatable setups at 8-12W, and some nice replicable juices, I thought I’d set up my predominantly DL (Direct Lung inhale) Bellus tank with a DL setup – dual Claptons 26/32G Kanthal (which incidentally took me three goes to get into the Bellus’s small chamber without shorting, details if you’re interested) and try my two current favourite juices – Pina Colada (AM vape), and Mild Sweet Cigar (PM vape) The verdict? Didn’t taste or throat hit ANY better. Sure it produced bigger clouds (subjectively twice as big?), but used 60W instead of 15W, and a directly proportional greater quantity of juice – I normally use about 1 ml/hr in my MTL tanks, this setup used 2ml in half-an-hour.

Bottom line - it appears you don't need mega coils or Watts for good flavor or throat hit. Admittedly it's taken MONTHS to find the right gear etc seeing as most manufacturers are aiming at the DL market (and why wouldn't they? The money is in the consumables...), but with persistence (/ADHD/OCD) you can replace cigarettes on the cheap... Happy to share what I've learned so far..."
The above was copied from another vaper who has made a point and tells the whole story.

I believed that Wayne failed to mention in DIYorDie vid, is that very few folks can be sensitive to VG which can result in a sore throat. Higher VG and/or lower or different Nic usually fixes the problem.
Note that the Cupti battery will support almost any other RBTA/RDA's provided the coils are setup to shine at 7 or higher watts. If you like the 1.5 ohm coil, stick with the whole set up as is.

If you can find a long drip tip with a narrow inner diameter - that can help.

Also, close off the airflow as much as possible.

Really??? I thought it was the exact opposite for a direct lung hit . But thats the reason i come here

I thought DTL is causing you pain and you wanted to know how you might proceed with the 0.5ohm coil in your device without that pain. Did I misunderstand?

There's only 2 things I can tell you that may or may not help you:
1) Sub-ohm coils generally create smoke that is more dense and voluminous and that may be the cause of your upper respiratory irritation.
2) Higher nicotine liquids are more irritating with sub-ohm coils and it is always recommended to use 6mg/ml or less in those devices.

That's all I've got.

Try dropping your nic to 6mg. That should help the back of your throat a good deal.

There are several ways to accomplish this. You can either just buy 6mg juice, or buy a bottle of 0mg in the same flavor and mix equal parts resulting in 6mg, or you can try finding a bottle of the same flavor in 3mg and just mix down to whatever feels the best to you.

Well, it depends. Some folk enjoy vaping 12mg at high(er) power.

In general the newer user will find higher strength quite nasty at high power.

Just because the coil is 'Subohm' doesn't mean you can't vape it at 15 watts or 40 watts if you choose - IF you can get the airflow right for you.

Personally, my power limit is directly affected by the strength. I can't vape 12mg over about 25w. I struggle with 6mg at about 45-50w depending on liquid.
I have one 5mg liquid that tops out at well under 40w....

In fairness to the shop, if you can manage 12mg at 15-20w, the only difference between the two coils (both set to 20w for example) is the inhaling style... (more or less)....

This entire thread has been dedicated to discussing certain points and yet no mention of power/watts.

You'll be OK.. :)
