I work with the overnight crew and the first in the store to get an e-cig. I'm in the process of working management about allowing it in the store. But then my store is wanting all smokers to quit smoking. One of the assistants I work with now doesn't care where I vape, but for camera's sake, I've been going outside with the rest of the smokers. If things change, will let everyone know.

Somewhere in time.
I just vape in the bathroom or go outside..........I do, however, live in SC-so winter isn't too horrid. I'd probably be getting fired for .....ing to management constantly if it actually snowed here. Of course, getting fired from there is NOT that hard-but I like my job when allowed to do it, so being nice on the vapng issue.......

I also work for Wal Mart and when my order gets here I will be the first to vape, not sure if anyone overnights does. We can smoke outside as long as it is 50 feet from the doors. Not sure if they will allow it inside, but I have seen customers that do it. My store was recently remodeled so it does not have the old smoking room anymore. This winter unless they say I can I might have to stealth vape since I am not going to go out in -30 weather to vape. I work in mens apparel so it would be very easy to do or can do it when covering the fitting room just do it when I "check" the fitting rooms for trash or hangers. Mens apparel has no cameras so can kneel down to "fold" something an do it there. The mens department is usually less busy then other areas in apparel. Besides the fitting room I think the back stock area would be another easy area to stealth. You can go get something and do a quick stealth and no one would be the wiser. If you are a cashier then it would be hard to stealth.

We were told at my Walmart, that as of 7-1-11 there is to be no smoking/dipping/vaping(they actually said vaping...I was so proud of them) inside the building. We have to go 50 ft. from the building. We were also told this was a company- wide policy. Any updates? Did you hear this too?

Company wide policy you say?
I would like to see that in writing.
I will not disclose which Wal-Mart I work at but I have demo'ed in front of management and have been ask to give a presentation in a meeting for others that smoke.

Check the frickin company policy. Can't be too hard. Ask your HR manager or store manager for it.

If there isn't anything written in corporate policy specifically that forbids vaping indoors, than you can vape. Doesn't matter what your manager says.

If they're dumb enough to fire you for something that isn't against policy you can easily sue them for more money than you'll make working there in the next 5 years.

I work at a Lowes, a few of my managers would prefer that I not vape indoors but it's not in policy so they can't do .... about it.

I did do some research and yes it is a policy. Altho no-one knew about it and still don't except me and one other person.
You was right it has the words ELECTRIC CIGARETTE in the policy and said it is a global policy.
You said that as of 7-1-11 there is to be no smoking/dipping/vaping.
That confused me as it is not 7-1-11 yet. Did you mean 7-1-10?

Would like to know if anybody is permitted to vape at Wal_Mart.
Weather you work there or shop there.

I'm not an employee, but I am a WM shopper. I usually go early in the morning, between 7 and 8 am. I will take a few drags between the aisles if they are empty.

But I know they have cameras all over the store. No one has said anything to me yet, but I would like to know what there policy for vaping shoppers is. I bet I can guess. No way! Unless you have a lot of stuff in your basket, LOL.

Geez, no wonder walmart is perceived as a screwed up company. Aren't they in business to sell junk from China? And isn't the best junk from China e-cig stuff? Pass these suckers out to everyone in the company and then put this stuff on the shelves! What the heck happened to capitalism, anyway?
As for me, I never ask permission to do anything that isn't obviously wrong, and nobody argued with me after the fact on e-cigs.

I wouldn't argue with seeing that smiley face on a sign over a bunch of bottles of DeKang
