Current Minnesota thread? I give up!

I have spent more time goofing around with the ECF search and the Google "site:" option than I'd care to mention ... I've tried looking for the three bill numbers (just the digit sequences) - 1931, 1974, and 2027. I've also tried looking for "Minnesota Godshall" on Google and Bill's user name here on ECF for appropriate dates (last 3 months). Again, I come up with nada, zip zero. And that's not all I've tried.

Can someone please tell me where the current MN thread is here? And can I get this thread deleted once it's located.

(Did I mention that it is NOT easy to locate threads LOL ... let alone figure out what the state of play is w/i a given jurisdiction even after they're located - other than just giving up and going to legiscan? It can be extremely frustrating sometimes.)

Thanks Kent but I was looking for a Minn. thread here in legislation which I could send readers of the news digest to, so that they could bookmark it for recent updates. MN vapers is doing this ( Minnesota Vapers Advocacy |Minnesota Vapers Advocacy ) and so is CASAA ( CASAA: Call to Action! Minnesota E-Cigarette Usage Ban .. but threads can be helpful when things are moving fast and hearings are scheduled etc.

ANyway I don't think there is one, and Bill should probably start it if he sees fit.

So let me invoke the OP option to request trashing this one.

Are you on Facebook? There is a Minnesota Vapers Advocacy group (Minnesota Vapers Advocacy |Minnesota Vapers Advocacy) that has grown and matured in the past year, but they keep their daily updates to Facebook.

Thanks Kent - no I haven't seen "the" paper ... but I'll look. As always, I'm chasing my tail trying to figure out legislative status.

Latest news is that MN's HF 1974 has allegedly been modified to take out the extension to the clean air act. If so, this would represent a very substantial change to the situation in MN.

I emailed info@mnvapers.com and also FB's Matt Black and Jim Raines. We'll see if I get a reply.

I just hope we don't have to deal with 50 different FB pages for US states and 28 different FB pages for EU member states next year. As frustrating as it can be to find things on this forum ... just imagine what it would be like to track nearly 80 FB pages. AAARGH LOL.

Don't know if it helped, but I was posting a new thread for the latest update, though I guess that could get choppy. Perhaps posting the government link is best? That way you can see the morphing between the original bill to its latest rendition?

You're on the ground there, so you have the best insight on how to make the call. Sometimes two threads can be confusing, because unless one is closed, people will post to both. On the other hand, when a thread gets ridiculously long, it's also obviously problematic.

If you want my I'd say that ideally each jurisdiction (city, state, county) gets its own thread. Then someone in a position of relative authority (like you - for HI) makes a decision every now and then to start a new thread. First post is an update to get new readers up to speed. Then ask Sonic or some other mod to close the old thread so people can't post it it. Maybe there could even be an archives forum.

I wouldn't be surprised if this stuff started right of the bat in next year's legislative sessions, so we'll have long-running battles in many states, each of which might have as many as half a dozen or more bills to keep track of.

Thus management of information will become a critical part of the machinery for keeping everyone on the same page, and quickly updating/integrating noobs.

I usually check legislation for new threads or posts before I post my daily summaries. So if I see that a new thread has been started, it's pretty obvious to me that I need to figure out why and/or maybe change my standard little blurb for that state which will go on the tail end of first reviewed story in that day's sumary.

Good news for Minnesota:

Gov. Mark Dayton said Tuesday that proposals this year to ban the indoor use of electronic cigarettes may go too far.

In an interview with the Star Tribune, Dayton said that while he would sign a bill to restrict children’s ability to buy e-cigarettes, he is likely to oppose proposed restrictions on their use indoors.

“After we came down pretty hard on smokers last session, that’s probably enough for this biennium,” Dayton said. The state raised taxes on cigarettes last year. “We did enough to smokers last session.”

The governor’s position may quash the growing movement at the Legislature to restrict where Minnesotans can use the newly popular smokeless devices.
