The hardest part for me was making my purchases all at once. I was one of those "stop at the store everyday to buy a pack smokers" It didn't seem like I was spending much that way. Now I make a monthly purchase of my juice and cartos and such and its about 70 dollars but I am set for the month.

Much cheaper then then the 200 dollars a month I was spending and I feel a heckuva lot better too!

Same here, I have wanted to start this for 2 years, never had the extras money to start. I finally decided "just buy something to get started and it will work out". So far so good.

I've spent about $200 in the last 2 months including the intitial ecig purchase. This includes 1 extra battery (aside from the original 2) because i wanted a manual instead of auto battery, 20+ juices, and 20 clearomizers (need extras on hand for all the new flavors). In those 2 months I would have spent $300 on regular smokes (1 PAD @ $5 ea). Granted, next week I'm getting an upgraded ecig and a few new flavors (another $100) but that goes into the 3rd month of cost and as long as I can hold off on trying any new flavors for the following 3 weeks, I'll still be ahead.

I can't see myself upgrading again for a while (my upgrade is really just battery size) so future cost for the next 6 months will be about $50 a month on clears and juice. puts me at a savings of $100 a month.

The upfront cost thing is harder for alot of people.
Plus- your nervious that you don't want to make a big mistake.

But- if your on ECF, and you have learned a little...
and you don't get caught up in the 'shinies'-
you are going to do great !

I am so happy to see all of you new guys and gals doing so well !
Hey, 2 Days, 4 Days- 10 Days and 90 days w/o a ciggy- whoda thunk it !

You already smell a whole lot better from here ! :p
and, as Beccca says: more years !

GREAT JOB...VAPE ON !

PS... My states taxes on cigs are going up again....
But- not for me this time. :vapor:

This is now sounding much better! If I can do this and not spend more than cigs, I will be happy!

2 of us got started here for about what we spent on cigs in a week. 3 cartons a week at $55 and we were saving money by the 2nd week. I still use the eGo Twists I started with even though I do have a few high end mods. If I didn't have the extra disposable income to buy them I would still use the Twists all the time. When they die I will be buying more.A Twist with a clearo is way easier for me to carry all day than a huge mod I don't want to drop and break. With a lanyard I can even vape when out riding.

This is not very encouraging! I can barely afford my cigs! I was hoping a big upfront cost and then it would be less than smoking! I just spent $100 on a kit and juice, I hope I can get by on only having to purchase Juice and new heads for the Evod for at least a month!

Don't worry, I quit largely because I am poor and I have spent about the same on vaping than I did on smoking. But, now that I have found my all day vapes and a delivery system I like, the price is about to go way down.

A guy I work with spends about $40 a month vaping. Or less, sometimes. I hope to be able to get to that point myself. :)

Pretty much the same situation here. I saw an episode of The Doctors back in 2009 where they were talking about ecigs. I thought that would be a good idea for me, but quickly abandoned that idea and just kept on smoking due to what i thought was a high upfront cost. I noticed that over the last 2-3 years I started smoking more each day. My 1 PAD habit had suddenly become 2-3 PAD. I was waking up coughing and was beginning to be short of breath when doing anything mildly strenuous.

My roommate was going to a local B&M to check out an ego starter kit on January 30th, and I tagged along out of curiosity. This time curiosity didn't kill the cat... It saved my life!!!

I feel better. I smell better. Food is so much more flavorful. Amazing changes in such a short time... I can't wait to see how great I feel in a year. :)

The banner in my cig shows what I've saved in smoking since I quit. A pack a day at $6.30/pk.
I keep a total of what I spend on vaping stuff and it totals out to about $1200. I haven't saved much money but it's only that high because I like to play with stuff.

If I was really trying to keep the budget in line my DIYed all day juice runs me about $8 for a 120ml bottle and lasts me well over a month, and something like Pheonix or Vivi Novas would run about $20 a month. So about $30/mo to vape compared to about $190 to smoke (not counting the $20 or so I spent on lighters every month. Damn things disappear more than socks.)

But the best savings is the 8,200 cigarettes I've not had. That's priceless.

The upfront cost was what initially put me off. My g/f (a non-smoker) about hit the ceiling when I told her how much I spent on my first purchase. She also lodged numerous complaints regarding how much research I did prior to that purchase, and how much I've done since.

Three months later, I'm finally re-ordering juice, and can submit the argument that I saved over $300 ($150 per month, less $150 startup cost) from kicking the smoking habit. As soon as I complete a bit more research, I will step up to a decent mechanical mod, RBA, and DIY juice to further save $$$....and possibly take the lady on a nice vacation for putting up with my crap!!! :p
