2 Corinthians 6:14 (KJV)
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach me so long as I live.
– Job 27:6

Someone I love and is very close to my heart is unequally yoked. She is a Christian and he is not. It's not that he was never around Christianity, as he was, pretty much all his life. I remember before they were married. I asked her about spending eternity without him, if he doesn't become a Christian. She answered, "All I want is now!" I knew my words were falling on deaf ears. In all honesty, neither of my parents were born again when they got married. But they were equally yoked. They still are, but became Christians over a marital span of 65 years. (They only knew each other 6 days before they married! Now if I'd pulled that, or tried to, I'd have been locked away in the Tower of London....even though we lived in Mississippi!) My loved one has been married for 14 years and they both love each other deeply, but are both so insecure and can't enjoy their union to the fullest. I'm still praying for him, and she is too. I know he won't listen to me so I just try to be an example. At Christmas, he leans toward buying me something that has to do with Christianity. I love the guy, but I love him enough to wish the best for him ..... and the best is Jesus!

Poor ol' Job. I can't imagine my beloved spouse telling me to curse God and die! But people still use the expression (Christian or not) 'the patience of Job!' Poor guy....we can read about him and see that there is a bounty of blessings at the end. He was living it day by day. I've read this Book many times. He kept the faith, even when everyone told him it was from some sin in his life. They were basically telling him he was reaping what he sowed. Now I was about to say that it was an unfair task for God to put on him. but brave men and women do this everyday! They live with disorders, pain, depression, disabilities, loss of a job and unable to find another, and children dying every day. God utilizes the weak to make them strong in the eyes of man. Not superman strength, but courage and faith to face another day in their situation. Job is a rock star as far as I'm concerned! (And yes, MM, I'm listening! ;)) Job is one of my heroes! Man I'm walking like an ol' grandma today. Oh, wait a minute....I am one!

1 Thessalonians 5:8 (KJV)
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.
– Ephesians 5:18-20

Galatians 5:17 (KJV)
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.

Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength: For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.
– Isaiah 26:3-5

John 21:15 (KJV)

So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?" He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, "Feed my lambs."

John 21:15 (KJV)

Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.
– Psalm 37:5-6

1 Corinthians 6:19 (KJV)
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
– Ephesians 6:16-18

After I first became a Christian back in August 1985, I would get up, get coffee, sit down with Scriptures to read, and light cigarettes while I studied. I, a few months later, told my mom what I considered to be a funny (but wasn't), that while I would inhale the Holy Spirit coughed. Eeeeuuuuuuu. What a stupid thing to say!!!! It makes your insides flip flop, ya know? This month will be my 4th year without tobacco, yet I am still addicted to nicotine.....and not just small mg's either. I had PLANNED to taper off. But when I did, I was no longer satisfied and leery of going back to tobacco. So that's where I am now. Now we're not even going into food...................
