Matthew 24:14 (KJV)
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

Moses said to the people, “Don’t be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today: for the Egyptians whom you have seen today, you shall never see them again. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace." The children of Israel went into the middle of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand, and on their left.
– Exodus 14:13-14, 22

Matthew 4:4 (KJV)
But he answered and said, "It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.'"

Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.

That is so interesting. Today while at the dr.'s office....actually in the exam room, I was flipping through the Bible there and I stopped at Matthew 24 and read the entire chapter before the dr. came in. So when I saw the your post, Bill, I knew where it came from before I looked at the Book, Chapter, and Verse.

Okay.....let's think for a moment. Close your eyes, be at peace and visualize walking through a corridor of the sea......imagine how you would feel if you looked up on either water wall. You are walking on DRY ground!!! How can that be? It was wet just a few moments ago......saturated. You can see all sorts of fish swimming up to you and turning to go back in the same direction. LOOK....is that a whale????? Are you claustrophobic? Do you feel small and unimportant? Are you afraid? Are you awe struck? Was it too overwhelming? What would your reaction be?:?:

    No you can't
In the presence of an awesome sight or person of great authority - OH YES!

Ancient Hebrew Word Meanings Fear ~ yara
    27_fear.gif

The root meaning of the word yara is "to flow" and is related to words meaning rain or stream as a flowing of water. In Hebrew thought fear can be what is felt when in danger or what is felt when in the presence of an awesome sight or person of great authority. These feelings flow out of the person in such as actions as shaking when in fear or bowing down in awe of one in authority.

    Ecclesiastes 3:1 (KJV)
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.

Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.
    – Psalm 34:9-10

I personally do not 'fear' (like you are in danger) Almighty God. Would I pass out in His presence? You know I would. I bow to His greatness.....His Majesty.....His power......His love......His tranquility......His demeanor......His communication with me.....His forgiveness....His teachings......His patience.......His ability to speak the world into existence......I could go on and on, but I think you have the gist. There is a line that you just don't cross, because you don't want to hurt Him or let Him down. Do I trust Him with everything? I sure do. There is a song in a protestant hymn book:

    Only Trust Him

Come every soul by sin oppressed
    There's mercy with the Lord,
And He will surely give you rest
    By trusting in His Word.

Only trust Him, Only trust Him,
    Only trust Him now;
He will save you, He will save you,
    He will save you now.

It's simple and so chocked full of meaning. I don't remember the other stanza's. Sorry.

    1 Thessalonians 4:16 (KJV)
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first.

The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.

Paul meant that to the people of Philipi. (This is in my own words.) 'I haven't reached my mark on being a follower of Jesus. But, one thing I've learned to do, through Jesus, forget yesterday. It cannot be changed. Learn and move on. The future is before me and I really want to do my best, to reach the prize for my God in Jesus Christ, for His Honor and Glory.' Let's all move forward toward the future!
