Proverbs 18:2 (KJV)
A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.
– Galatians 6:7-8

Proverbs 18:2 - Once again, I had to make sure what I was reading. So I went to NKJV and it reads like this:

Proverbs 18:2 New King James Version
2 A fool has no delight in understanding,
But in expressing his own heart.

When we read a passage of Scripture, most of us think it fits someone else. But, is that really the case? All of us have done this. We think we know better. Our opinion is more important than someone else's. Once again in my life, I'm in a situation of trying to take the cinder out of someone else's eye when I have a huge log in my own. I have an eye disability called: Map Dot Fingerprint Dystrophy. I'd never heard of it either. So my eye doctor explained it to me. (I think I've posted this once before.) Not only do you lose a layer of skin, which replenshes itself, but your eyes as well. If I rub, sometimes just touch, it affects my under layer of skin by buckling. Sometimes a hair can irritate it or a piece of mascara. When that layer of skin comes to he surface, it feels like I have a grain of sand in my eye. I have eye drops for it, but it sure burns...really burns. Usually, within 24 hours it gets better. So, since I have that, I kinda understand about having a log! OUCH! BIG OUCH! There are no drops for logs in eyes, except doing things God's way. Only through the help of Almighty God can the log be removed. You have to be willing to have it removed and once you are, He has to do it. It's no fun. But once it's out, you start to feel better. And P. S., I rarely use mascara anymore.

Galations 6:7-8 - I don't know how many times I've stated that Scripture to people, including myself! You reap what you sow. The unsaved might call it karma, but God doesn't. It's simple farming, really. Whatever you plant is what your harvest will be. People have control over which crops they plant. I always thought the reaping was 10 fold either good or bad. Oops!!!

Revelation 20:12 (KJV)
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
– 2 Timothy 1:12

1 Corinthians 15:58 (KJV)
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
– Hebrews 12:1-2

Exodus 20:7 (KJV)
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
– Matthew 7:1-2

1 Peter 4:6 (KJV)
For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
– 1 John 4:16

Luke 3:16 (KJV)
John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire.

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

Luke 3:16 - This is without the other gospels, but is this the first time that the 'Holy Ghost and with fire' is mentioned? Chronologically speaking? Did John understand what he was really saying or repeating what God the Father told him. Either way, it's amazing! Since he knew the Messiah was coming, and Scripture doesn't state one way or the other, do you think he knew? Just one of those 'I just wonder if......' ;)

You might enjoy reading the meaning of fire from the ancient Hebrew.

IMO: John did Hear God and understood and many others who heard John also understood what he was saying.
