1 Corinthians 10:31 (KJV)
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.
– Ephesians 2:8-9

People think that they are good people and feel they are going to heaven. They say, "I don't kill people, steal from them, covet any of their things, adultry, I honor my mother and father, etc. What they are doing is comparing themselves to other people. The comparison should be one to Jesus. How do you line up with Him? Not good!

Romans 3:22-25Living Bible (TLB)

21-22 But now God has shown us a different way to heaven[a]—not by “being good enough” and trying to keep his laws, but by a new way (though not new, really, for the Scriptures told about it long ago). Now God says he will accept and acquit us—declare us “not guilty”—if we trust Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, by coming to Christ, no matter who we are or what we have been like. 23 Yes, all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious ideal; 24 yet now God declares us “not guilty” of offending him if we trust in Jesus Christ, who in his kindness freely takes away our sins.

25 For God sent Christ Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to end all God’s anger against us. He used Christ’s blood and our faith as the means of saving us from his wrath. In this way he was being entirely fair, even though he did not punish those who sinned in former times. For he was looking forward to the time when Christ would come and take away those sins.

Footnotes:

[a]Romans 3:21 now God has shown us a different way to heaven, literally, “now a righteousness of God has been manifested.”
Romans 3:25 as the means of saving us from his wrath, literally, “to be a propitiation.”

Only by accepting Jesus as our personal Lord and Saviour are we righteous....we are covered by His blood and protected from judgment by Almighty God. Don't take my word for it. Check it out in the Holy Bible. :w00t:

Romans 8:26 (KJV)
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

Interesting when I look up groanings in the dictionary. Matter how I look at it, it brings pain to the Spirit that we don't know what we should pray for and we should(ought) and yet He never leaves us. - I'm lost for words.

Romans 8:26 (KJV) Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

    groans noun

    1. a low, mournful sound uttered in pain or grief: "the groans of dying soldiers."

    2. a deep, inarticulate sound uttered in derision, disapproval, desire, etc.

    3. a deep grating or creaking sound due to a sudden or continued overburdening, as with a great weight:
"We heard the groan of the ropes as the crane lowered the heavy cargo into the ship's hold."

    verb (used without object)

    4. to utter a deep, mournful sound expressive of pain or grief.

    5. to make a deep, inarticulate sound expressive of derision, disapproval, desire, etc.

    6. to make a sound resembling a groan; resound harshly: "The steps of the old house groaned under my weight."

    7. to be overburdened or overloaded.

    8. to suffer greatly or lamentably: "groaning under an intolerable burden."

    Matthew 20:16 (KJV)
"So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen."

But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

WOW! This is huge, MM!! There is another Scripture about 'grieving the Holy Spirit.' Groaning and grieving.....kind of goes hand in hand....pain is pain.

Ephesians 4:29-31New King James Version (NKJV)

29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

    Good post, MM!:)

Now think on this if a believer can be the cause for the Holy Spirit to GRIEVE how does that fit into the only sin that can't be forgiven?

The unpardonable sin - grieving the Holy Spirit. The only sin that cannot be forgiven is when a soul stays lost from God unto death. It's too late for you to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour. Once you are dead, there is no turning back. Jesus only knocks on the door of your heart so many times. He knows who will and who won't accept Him as Saviour, but He knocks anyway. We don't have that knowledge, which means we never stop praying for that loved one, or that co-worker, or neighbor. Like the words of Winston Churchill....."Never give up! Never never, never, never, never give up! So, apparently each soul that is lost forever from God is grieved like losing a loved one, like a family member, because He has.

    Luke 16:17 (KJV)
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Based on scripture Romans 8:26 when we pray we grieve the Holy Spirit. Are we better then those who will be judged for the unpardonable sin and deserving of death IMO: NO, we are also deserving of death but in these days God has SHOWN His Grace to His creation and has MADE His Mercy available to creation and shown His Love FOR His creation though His Son Jesus and now in these last days has said in Isaiah 43:25 "I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins." This prophesy points to Jesus

The point I'm making is when I look upon those who will be judges I see myself, When I look upon Jesus I see God.

Romans 2:1 New International Version: You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.

Remember were taking on grieving the Holy Spirit.

One of four definitions of for condemn found at Condemn - Definition and More from the Free Merriam-Webster Dictionary

to declare to be reprehensible, wrong, or evil usually after weighing evidence and without reservation <a policy widely condemned as racist

    The choice is ours.

    1 Corinthians 3:16 (KJV)
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. Trust in the Lord, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

While reading your post, MM, an expression came to mind. "There, but for the Grace of God, go I." Before we reached back to Jesus and accepted His Grace by faith, we could have been that drug pusher, or murderer, or thief, or ..........that could have been us. So do we get puffed up? Are we better than they are? That could have been me, but I was saved by Grace through faith! Why would we compare ourselves to someone else! We compare ourselves to Jesus, not mankind. Yeah, we look really pious comparing ourselves to murderers. If you do that, you've missed the whole point! Once we become born again, we want to become like Jesus.....no one else.....to have love, mercy, compassion to everyone. To be like Jesus IS the benchmark! That becomes our goal! We don't want to go back to what we once were before we became born again. I know I don't! Does that mean I still do dumb things? Yes I do. On a regular basis? Yes I do. I don't mean to, but it happens. Do I have any desire to rob a bank? My Father in heaven provides for me. Do I panic to get my publisher's clearinghouse sweepstakes in the mail? No, I throw it in the trash because My Father in heaven takes care of me! Why would I put my trust in the lottery, or hope to win a sweepstake? I don't! He takes care of me while I learn to be more like Jesus! That's what God the Father does. Why does He do that? Because, that's who He is. Does He have to do that? He can't be any other way to His children because He is perfect. Does that mean I won't ever have adversity? I wish! But remember:

Romans 8:28 New King James Version (NKJV)

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. (emphasis mine.)

In 1985, I became born-again. I didn't put down cigarettes until 2010. After I got saved, I would get up in the morning, make coffee, open the Bible and read. I remember telling my mom (I was trying to be funny) that I would inhale and the Holy Spirit would cough! Now just how dumb does one have to be!!!!!!

Psalm 37:4 - Delight thyself also in the Lord; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

This has always been one of my favorite verses in Scripture, because it's true!:)

Can't you just hear the comments after Jesus said that the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand? I can just hear the bumfuzzledness......"Say what?" "Would you repeat that?" "Are you serious?"

Ephesians 3:20-21 - I read this and understood mostly of what this Scripture was saying. So off I go to Bible Gateway. I wanted to be sure I was understanding correctly. Interestingly enough, 'world without end' is a perfect phrase as in Revelation, a new heaven and new earth were created by God, after He destroys the old ones.

Ephesians 3:20-21 New King James Version (NKJV)

    20) Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, 21) to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
