I've been using some clearomizers from my local vendor, not sure the exact model... Stardusts with the thicker wicks. Anyway, I'm currently vaping some dark honey from Aroma, and after a couple of days I'm getting a nasty burnt taste. This happened before with a different dark juice... in both cases, the top of the wicks were really dark, almost black. I tried cleaning and dry burning the first time this happened, and could never get rid of the campfire taste.

So.... Should I just avoid dark juices in this particular clearomizer? Am I doing something wrong? I've been burning these at between 3.8 and 4.0 volts and have no problem with lighter juices...

I'd really like to get more than 2 days vape on a dark juice... Suggestions?

I had the same problem with CE5, dry burn never worked for me as well, not sure who had the idea to burn silica...
Moved to EVOD's and all problems gone, each coil lasts for about a week.

You can't burn silica, that's the point. There may be some gunk left in the wicks where the coils are. I've had great luck with dry burning. Be sure to wash it off afterwards.

Don't wait so long between cleanings.

When I first started vaping, I was hooked on coffee flavors. Unfortunately, it gummed up the clearo after about three days. After trashing a couple, I learned you could soak and rinse them to extend their life span. Try changing them out after two days (before they start tasting burned!), doing a nice long soak and a few rinses. You should see an improvement in flavor wicking and life span.

I've found bottom coils gunk faster than top with dark juices.

Vapoor's suggestion to have many heads, and batch clean, is a good one! Others have had good luck soaking in cheap vodka or everclear, of just lots of hot water. Dry burning can help if done properly. Remember to re-rinse after the dry burn.

Putting a dark juice in a carto or carto tank will gunk the carto pretty quickly. You might need to punch bigger holes, or thin the juice a bit with a tiny amount of distilled water to make it less viscous.
