So here is something that I haven't had to deal with before, but occurred to me recently and will probably be something I have to deal with in the future. I haven't been on the dating market in years, and I've noticed that the options appear to be non smoker, smoker, social smoker, trying to quit. How would you as a vaper define yourself? I certainly wouldn't want to list myself as a smoker, but I could certainly see the question coming up when I chuck a medium cloud off a mechanical "Oh, I thought you didn't smoke?" For that matter, I'm hesitant on dating a smoker...the ashtray smell bothers me (which is amazing considering how long I smoked before I gave it up for good). Converts are always nice, but not something I want to be a "thing" so to speak.

Any of you single guys or girls have to deal with the question? How did you handle it?

If I were in that situation I wouldn't over think it. Primarily because I am around people all the time who smoke & it doesn't cause me to wanna light up.

You'd be dating; not getting married so there's no immediate obligation to stick with the 1st person you go out with who doesn't fall within your wants/needs.

I've been widowed for five years, and consider myself to be a non-smoker. Any potential dates usually get an explanation sometime during dinner (or whatever) and the few women I've met have been cool about it, and usually express healthy curiosity about vaping.
Now if I could just meet one that wasn't bat-crap crazy, or still living with her ex...

I dated a girl and it turned out she thought "vaping is for losers and you should just quit". I did quit. And I enjoy vaping. She went bye bye. Now I have a gf that vapes, but she has the occassional cig so I've been trying to tune her vape experience and I don't kiss her until she brushes her teeth. She loves my vape. [removed]

I put down non smoker and don't mention it until they're hooked when I'm dating, though, lol.

Non-Smoker, as Non-smoker and Ex-smoker/Former Smoker are the same for insurance purposes, and you are assuring them you do not smoke. :D

Remember, even if you Chew and Spit, you are NOT a Smoker

I've been wondering about that, myself. Particularly as a woman. How would a non-smoker perceive a woman who not only vapes, but builds her own coils, uses large 100-200w mods, has more nic in her freezer than food:oops::lol:, etc.? I really don't know if there is a stigma, associated to that kind of thing.

Why care?
There's stigma to damn near everything in life. I could care less what others think (esp. non-smokers) of me vaping & all the stuff it entails.
Non-smokers irk me with their opinions because they come off like their better than everyone else.

My other 1/2 is turned on fascinated when seeing me build coils. If she had a negative outlook on what I do, I'd have to mention all the crap she does I'm not a fan of. :sneaky:

I really don't care. And though I don't have a problem dating a smoker, I'd prefer not to (too much temptation). But even in the vaping world, there is a small sector, who has the idea that women should be tootle-puffers, or that we don't really know our way around an atomizer, like they do. It's small, but it exists. So that had me wondering, if some men vapers think that way, what about never smoker/vapers?

I'm enjoying this thread. I'm 64 and have been married for 41 years. I don't anticipate ever being concerned with this question but fun to read what others may be dealing with.

However, I may have to cut my wife loose if the FDA gets it's way and the freezer nic level gets too low...but I doubt I will enter the dating scene anytime soon.

I would think that i have someone to build my coils for me if I'm not in the mood, that how cool it is that after dinner we could have cloud blowing competitions and if she was ordering some atty's that i could ask her to pick me up some Claptons in .25 for my xyz tank and i wouldn't have to explain myself......how cool would that be!!

As my answer/definition of myself, I Vape, I don't smoke!

In a reasonable world there would be a Vaping option. Short of that I am a Nonsmoker. If my date has a problem then that is a non-starter. A date that has a problem with vaping is a very controlling person, someone I'm not interested in pursuing. I'd rather learn that sooner than later.

    Maybe better yet...

I am married, but was having drinks with a few single girls last week (work friends) while away on business and started vaping in a small room we were in. All 3 were non smokers and told me they wouldn't care if their BF vaped as it didn't make you stink. More smell related than health I guess, but I think smoking would be more of a showstopper than vaping.

Interesting question. I'm doing just fine and don't see myself entering the dating market but I find it amazing that you kind of schedule your dates and have to say whether you're a smoker or a former smoker or a non-smoker or a quitter etc. beforehand. Anyway, if I had to date, I'd rather just date somebody I knew.
