Good Lord it's 11:30 at night and I haven't had a real cigarette since this time last night. I think this is the first 24hr period I've been without a cigarette since I was like, 15 years old........and I'm 56!

I can't freakin' believe it. I've been vaping about a month and a half, smoking maybe 5 - 10 cigarettes a day and vaping too (down from my usual 50 cigarettes a day), and I'm not climbing the walls or seeing double or ...... green......... so far, so good. But I'm probably taking in more nicotine than I used to so I still have one hell of a nic habit. I'm vaping maybe 3mil a day of Halo Menthol Ice 24mg. Boy that stuff burns off quick. Anybody else notice that Halo burns off faster than other brands? Or am I just sucking it down like a vacuum cleaner for fear of smoking again?

Is 3 - 4 mil a day a lot?

It's sort of a lot, but considering the number of analogs you smoked it's about expected, at least IMHO. I "analog'd" about 35 - 40 a day, and will down a whole 1 Ml of 24 mikes per mil juice on a slow day; about half again on a stressed day.

Don't worry too much about it; your body will self-regulate. You will tend to vape more than smoke, puff-for-puff, because the nicotine is absorbed differently (mouth and throat vs. lungs) and the concentration is different (who knows what your analogs had; cig companies are so secretive nobody has a clear idea what brands contain what concentration of nicotine).

But it's pretty amazing how well it works, isn't it? :)
Keep on vapin', and you'll feel even better as time goes on!!!

If it's any consolation, I've read from a couple of different sources that vaping doesn't deliver nicotine as efficiently as smoking tobacco would, so while you may be using up more nicotine, you've probably already significantly reduced the amount of nicotine that you've been taking in. It's hard to tell because nicotine withdrawal symptoms are so similar to how you'd feel having a bit too much nicotine.

I noticed that I vaped quite a bit more when I started, and then I tapered off without really thinking about it. Seems like I went through a lot of e-juice in my first couple of weeks of just vaping.

I just didn't know if i was going to blow the top of my head off from nicotine. I feel pretty good - almost normal (whatever normal might be). I'm vaping a 601 e-pipe so I'm getting big vapor and it takes about 30 drops to fill a blank cart. But it can last 6 hrs without topping it off.

I was thinking I just won't worry about it and see what happens. I was guessing that after a while I would probably just taper off naturally. I sure am glad you guys are here. Otherwise, I'm just vapng blind and wouldn't know what to expect. I really need to quit the analogs.....

I quit drinking (I'm a recovering alcoholic - been sober 6 years this month), so I know about dealing with the jones, but this is different. Drinking was ruining my life and the effects of that were obvious. Cigarettes are ruining my health, but except for a little shortness of breath, I really couldn't see the effects.

So here I go down another hard road. I saw a lot of people smoking today and it felt good that I don't have to do that any more. That's a positive start!

Thanks everybody,

Ed.

I do know what you mean, my husband still smokes analogs. I have lit up a few times over the past couple of months when waiting for a battery to charge. I've noticed that I like tobacco cigarettes less and less and instead of smoking a cigarette to the ...., I can only make it half way through one before I hand it off or put it out.

I think it helps immeasurably that vaping is a more pleasant habit than smoking (the taste of different juices are so nice) but you might be craving something else from the tobacco. There is a forum here dedicated to smokeless tobacco (snus and snuff) and if you find yourself struggling more than you think you should, you might want to check out those threads.

Most heavy vapors report vaping about 2-3ml of juice a day...

However, everyone is different and its possible you don't absorb as much nicotine as the next person... it is possible that some drinks with low pH levels like colas and such can affect nicotine absorption.

Nicotine and alcohol both stimulate the same part of the brain, so maybe its possible that you're keeping any urge to drink at bay with the extra nicotine consumption.

Oh well, I'm not a doctor though.

Congrats on 6 years :)

I'm in a similar situation. I smoked for over 40 years and averaged about 2 packs a day until I discovered vaping and just stopped smoking altogether. I couldn't believe it either and neither could my family and friends but I found it easy and painless. I vape pretty much constantly when I'm awake but one thing that's worked for me is to cut down on the nicotine. So I went from about 24 - 30mg. to 6 - 10 mg. Some of my juices contain 0 nicotine and I find that I don't miss the higher concentrations at all.

Congratulations on cutting back on cigarettes and stopping drinking.

That's interesting about the cola drinks and how PH levels might affect nicotine absorption. I wonder if there is any fact behind that? I'm a coca-cola freak, but I've noticed that since I've stopped smoking cigarettes, my need to always have something to drink around isn't as bad as it was. With the e-juice being a liquid vapor, my mouth doesn't get as dry as it used to so I'm drinking less cokes. That's got to be a good side effect!

I made it through the weekend and a stressful Monday at work - so far, no cigarettes! I set my wife up with the DSE901 I bought - she's circling it like a shark deciding if it should strike or not. She's still smoking, but told me not to buy any more cigarettes after the last carton is gone. I'm hoping she'll take to the vaping, but I know her well enough to let her take her own sweet time. She had a lot of luck with nicotine gum a few yeas ago - hey no matter - whatever works, right?
