I'll give this one a shot. Got my vaping equipment around noon time on 4-17-10. Had 4 cigarettes left in my pack. Finished them off by around 2pm. Started vaping at 2pm on 4-17-10. That was it for me.

I tried a cigarette a couple months ago when my battery was dead. It was horrible. Took two drags and put it out. Then I KNEW I was done with cigs forever.

I still have 6 new packs of cigs left in my carton. Guess I'm going to have to take a walk in the city park and give them to the folks that hang out there. They are always trying to bum a cigarettes.

Wishing you ALL the best.

I had to step down. I just started vaping on July 6th, and immediately went from 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day down to 1/2 a pack (or less, some days.) I started at 18mg, then got 24mg, and now am vaping 24 and 36mg. It has now been 6 days since I have had a cigarette, and I am not having very many cravings.

Everyone is different, and there is no "right" way to quit smoking. The most helpful advice I got was to focus on how many cigarettes you are NOT smoking. I did have to make a commitment not to buy more cigs while I was still a little nervous about the 36mg doing the trick for me, but it has not been a problem. If I have a craving, I just vape some 36mg, and give it 5 minutes, and the craving subsides. I have noticed that vaping doesn't provide the immediate "Ahhhh" feeling of nic. satisfaction...it takes about 5 minutes or so. :)

My advice to do is not to keep track of the days since you had your last cigarette. I myself couldn't really tell you exactly when I had my last cigarette (and I don't care really), I kinda just brushed it off. Think of it as if nothing, and don't go around telling your friends and family just yet, let them find out on their own. I find so many people set themselves to fail by their boasting, and then, of course, when they go back to smoking they feel even more miserable. The chances that one will go back to smoking are quite high because one is thinking about cigarettes constantly everyday(by keeping track); and how happy they are to be 2 weeks 5 hours and 46 seconds from having their last cigarette. I assure you the less one thinks of it, the faster you'll forget that you smoked in the first place. :2c:

As for how long it took me to get off cigarettes--the night before I received my e-cig. I went from a pack a day to 12mg of nicotine. And yes, I had a miserable first few days. Now I vape whenever I want to, I don't necessarily have to have nicotine; however, I will keep my liquid with nicotine because I like how it makes me feel, a very soothing feeling.

I forgot to mentione that if one feels that one is not getting their 'fix' from the low nicotine mg of their initial liquid and come to the conclusion that the dosage must be augmented: I say augment the dosage of will power and not nicotine. Nicotine takes but three days to leave the body and likewise it takes the body only a few days to adjust to lower nicotine consumption. It's all in your head after that--you'll surprised at all the crazy things that people come up with as to why they can't quit somethings!

I was stepping down at first. Got down to four or five cigarettes per day really quick. I could have stayed at that point forever if I'd let myself. I had to make a concious decision not to buy any more cigarettes or I would still be smoking those four or five. After I made that decision, I was a bit twitchy for a day or two. I don't think it was withdrawals or anything, I think it was psychological. Now, I can't imagine smoking a cigarette again.

I took a couple weeks total to stop. One week to get my equipment and nic level straightened out, then a week to burn through a last pack of cigs.
I'm in the "to heck with the pain" category. I do like nicotine's effects, bumped up to a 24 mg nicotine for when I want a more cigarette-like nicotine boost, but use a lower strength for hanging around on the computer using a PT.
I might gradually reduce mg nic, but frankly that's waaaay down in my list of life's priorities.
Good luck!

I smoked the last of my pack Monday before last. Since then I've had one and didn't like it. At first I still craves analogs though, but I've noticed those have mostly gone away. At this moment the thought of an analog isn't even appealing.

One trick I have learned that has helped. At first when I would be out with friends and they were all smoking I would vape myself into a headache. Now I fill a few carts with 0 nic for when I just want something to puff on, not an actual nicotine craving.
