Upon my first visit to this forum I felt like I was looking at a foreign language. A huge assortment of terms, jargon, and alphanumeric model numbers. I thought i was Mr. Practical and I could make the cheap 21st Century kit I bought at a local smoke shop work. The second day I had it, it was clear that one batt was not enough, and by the third day I was burning through a three pack of cartomizers every day at $7.99 per pack. At that point i began soaking up as much information as I could from the forum. Many hours later and I now feel like I have a good base knowledge, and can make reasonably well informed decisions.
I am still waiting on my first shipment of decent equipment to arrive. I ordered a 510 kit with PCC, and a bunch of juice from Cignot. I am now vaping every chance i get, and I realize that I am going to want a unit with great battery life, but for now I feel like I need to have that analog feel in my hand. I am now 12 days smoke free and I'm NEVER going back to analogs. The FDA can have my PV when they pry it from my cold, dead hand. Thanks to the admins of this site and to all who post here for the valuable info!

I started with and still use my 510's. Really do love them. Moving up to a mod soon but can't really see the day when the 510 is not part of my arsenal. I still love the feel of a cig size (There is probably a reason they are much more popular than stogies) and it takes about 2.5 sec. to change a battery.

i'll prob always carry that 510 unit with me though. I smoked for 20 years and those hand and oral habits are powerful to say the least

The 510 starter kit was my first. Wanted the same size as a real smoke. And the 510 atty is a proven thumper....
But the 510 batteries suck compared to other options. Once i got over the cigarette size, and bought a Ego-T with 1000mah batteries, OMG..... i went from charging 4 times a day to charging once every two days!!! Cigar size isn't all that bad.....And instead of lasting me 6 months, which the 510 180mah batteries did....the 1000mah will last me well over a year, if not more.

I cannot convey on cartomizors, as i have never tried one. But as far as the cartriges goes, i found myself topping off after a few hits to get that satified feeling. So i started dripping and said screw the foam or whatever filling....it didn't wick good enough for my liking.
The Ego Tank system i like. But be forwarned. If you want to fill with juice and go, a cartomizer may be your besat bet.
The Ego-T needs a little maintenance (.....). But i like it compared to dripping. Adding two to three drops at a time to 25 to 30 drops at a time..LOL.
If you take the time to read up on Ego-T. Or have some common sense/mechanical inclination, its a very good PV. And i would convey any informatiom to anyone that needed it, to help them out.

I hope you remembered to get some blank cartomizers...it's the cheapest way...fill/refill your own.

Backing this. I'm a noob, and I switched from a mini-mart e-cig that used carts to a proper pv that uses cartomizers, and I couldn't be happier. Filling cartos is easy and inexpensive. I learned from this video. I suffered from information overload here at first, but if you watch DoctorVapor's videos, he does a good job of distilling the information for us newbies. Some of his videos are already outdated (e.g. drip tips were not around yet for some), but I think they are a wonderful resource for those of us who are new to vaping.

I'm with you on never going back to analogs. For me, vaping is no longer a substitute for analogs, but a different, more satisfying way to get nicotine (a drug that for me is not only benign, but beneficial).

I received my order today, and I am quite satisfied. The 510 is an incredible product. I'm sure I will want to add to my arsenal eventually, but I don't see myself buying anything that doesn't use this atomizer. Swithching from tobacco is the most positive change I've made in years, maybe ever. Last analog was smoked on July 18 and I already feel infinitely better. Thanks again to all for the support.
