Thanks for posting; I commented:

I applaud Dr. Sumner for considering the potential of E Cigarettes as a life-saving alternative to smoking. Unfortunately, the FDA, certain Public Health Agencies, and Anti-tobacco Organizations lack Dr. Sumner’s open-mindedness. By and large, E Cigarettes have been portrayed as a potential public health risk without consideration of their health benefits. Most of the hysteria originates from the FDA’s press release based on their single (debunked) study. It seems that the opponents of E Cigarettes lack the willingness or desire to do complete research. Their motives are questionable?

Some reputable organizations, such as the American Association of Public health Physicians, support adding E Cigarettes to existing tobacco regulations instead of effectively banning them by classifying them as a Drug Delivery device. For anyone interested in conducting more compete and balanced research on E Cigarettes, a good place to start is tobaccoharmreduction.org.

Many smokers are (intentionally?) misled to believe that their only options are “Quit or Die!” Given the miserable success rate of FDA approved cessation products, death is the more likely outcome of these two choices! E Cigarettes offer nicotine addicted individuals an option that removes most of the harm associated with smoking; the smoke.

I am not affiliated with any E Cigarette suppliers. I am, however, an E Cigarette consumer. I tried an E Cigarette on December 6, 2009 and have not smoked since. This after over 40 years of smoking two packs a day. The improvement in my health is proof enough for me!
