Honolulu, Hi
Hey guys! I have a question about my ego atty. A while back i had debridged and dewicked my atty because I saw a few threads about how good it was for a 510 so i figured the ego atty is the same as a reg 510 but longer housing so I took the leap and did it. when i vaped with it, it was nice but i kept flooding the atty despite using 1-2 (2 being the max) and it would only be good for one pull or two if i'm lucky. am i doing something wrong? I notice that i still have a small pool of juice in the cup since the coil has a small gap from the bottom of the cup. I'd like to use that atty to taste my juices since i'm getting my first set for DIYing and dont want to buy another atty for just dripping when my ego atty still works. Any tips on debridged atty use would be helpful :) Thanks in advance!

I had the exact same problem when I debridged my atty. Nothing I could do for it. I just got a new one. Without the wicking material in there it seems to be really bad for flooding then drying overly quickly. Not as consistant as an atty that's intact.

I found that you need less drops. 2 drops or so, leave it for a few minutes to disappear into the threading or wherever it goes then one or two more. If it's gurgling you just have to vape through it then you'll get 5 or less decent puffs then it's dry as again.

Just a 510 atty would be cheaper. Will fit your ego. It looks a little silly but if it's for dripping inside it's no big deal right?

yeah. I only intend to drip at home because i actually enjoy dripping despite the constant topping off, but it keeps me busy when i'm bored at home :D I did consider picking up a couple 510s and thought about a 306 but with all the talk of leaky 306s, i'd rather stick with the standard 510s. I have also been considering LR but since i only have 2 ego bats, i dont want to possibly screw up either since i'm REALLY tight on money now and can't afford a new pv or new ego bats

but wouldn't the wick actually bring the juice down to the coils from the mesh on the bridge? as far as the mesh, i see it only being connected to the mesh surrounding the coil cup which means that the juice is wasted if it isn't pull down to the coil and just sitting there. I thought about modding the 510 like stated in a post somewhere that made it less prone to flooding and leaks but it's just too much trouble LOL

That's the purpose of the wick. But the wick is what gets gunked up and ruins flavors. All that black is 'build up'.

I think that when I drip the mesh and fire the PV, the coil heat 'thins' the juice and it flows on down to the coil. All I know is that with the dewicked bridge-in-place, I get longer use per drip and almost no flooding. YMMV...

There is this simple mod published on the russian vaping forum ecigtalk.ru.
It is applicable to debridged atis or "deplated" tank atis. It uses tank cartridges. If you like to fiddle, you could accommodate regular carts to it but tank carts are cheap enough.
Here is the link, the picture is self explanatory or you could use some web page translation tool: nice cart mod.
