Hey guys,

I would like to start off by saying. I have only been reading your site since about the 6th of this year. I switched to disposable E-cigs the 1st. I have never seen a site with so many cool people helping each other so much. Especially since a lot are quitting smoking. I figure this would be an all out brawl forum. Very impressed!

You all have sold me on the provari. I have no doubt I will love the it. I am pretty sure I want to get them blem model and order accessories cause that seems least expensive. My question is knowing everything you guys know. Which direction would you go. Order everything I can from provari ? or get my cartos and other accessories elsewhere.

I know I can get a better name brand battery charger on ebay that will also charge my cr123's * (bonus1 ) but how many of you just use the provari accessories ? how many would skip that and just order the kit from provari ?

I am thinking I am going to use cartos when i am out and an atomizer w bottle when i am home. Which cartos seem to be the best price for how long they last ?

If you were starting fresh today. What all would you order ? I appreciate any and all opinions I can get.

i cant help with cartos - i dont use them
and the only disposable dripper i use is ikenvapes io6

but im sure others will help.

As far as the cap, I am undecided since I am thinking of taking it public a lot until I find a nice portable cheaper version that isnt junk. ( the mini would be too much for a 2nd one starting out )

I though about getting 3 regular batteries. Tho if the cap and bigger really make that much of a difference. I will go that route from the start

I didn't bother getting the extension cap because I don't vape often enough to need the longer charge. The smaller batteries tend to last me a week. I'm not even kidding. No reason not to get the extension cap if you think it'd be more convenient, though.

In addition to the provari, I got two 3.5ml Vision Vivi Nova kits, three 2.5ml minis, and 5 additional replacement atomizer heads. I'll be set on hardware for quite a while.

Vivi novas are great, btw.

I didn't get the provari kit. I did add a charger and two batteries, though. I also paid to have the LED display blue instead of red.

I bought the starter kit because....I wanted to. :)

Looking back, I probably should have purchased the extension cap and an 18650 to go with it.

Any other accessories (unless you're looking to buy the Z-Atty Pro), I would only buy elsewhere. ProVape has good products, but so do other places, and usually at better prices.

+1 on the vivi novas. Work wonderfully and look great on the Provari. If you want to save a few $, consider one of their blemished units. I got a black one with extension cap, and I can't tell where the blemishes are even after looking at it under strong light. I also picked up the Pila charger from them, which has been a real champ so far.

Not a fan of the Vivi Nova's, but that's me. I've not heard much good about the carto's Provape sells, so I'd steer clear of them, there are tons of suppliers to get them from!
As for the batteries and charger, yes, they can be bought elsewhere cheaper, BUT figure in what the shipping is going to cost you and see if the savings equate out! Remember, when you buy a new Provari, it's shipped free!
I went with the mini, and am very happy with that choice! I'm getting around 6hrs out of the 18350's, I bought two batteries, that was all the money I had at the time, and have since ordered 2 more from RTD, along with some other things.
The Pila charger is the one that set the standard, has for years and years! It's the "go to charger" in the flashlight world even. I have the Trustfire TR-001 myself, what Altsmoke provides, and have never had a problem one with it. It even saved my bacon when I had head up .... syndrome one day and stuck some 3v 16340's on it! It flashed red and green to let me know I'd done something stupid! It's like everything else, I use good, protected batteries, so I don't worry that much about the charger. Some people like to play with unprotected batteries still, so they like the security the better chargers offer.

I personally just purchased everything for the ProVari from ProVape. When I ran the numbers I would have spent more money buying from other places once I added shipping into the equation. Secondly, I would have gone nuts if the provari came first and I had to wait a few more days for the batteries/charger/tank/etc, but thats me and my impatience =).

Not a fan of clearotanks, either. Flavors are muted and I found their wicking to be finicky. Not heard positive comments about Provape's cartos. I'll list my favorite vendors in a later post.

I got a Pila when I got my first mod (Silver Bullet) from Altsmoke. I wanted the best. My batteries are the lifeblood of my PV's, and thus I wanted the best to keep me vaping, safe, and prolong the life of my batteries. At the time, the Pila was the only charger that used particular algorhythms that allowed a faster and safer charge. I read that these algorhythms also are kinder to prolong a battery's expected life time; not sure if that is true, but I have a couple of AW's in use since I got the charger. That was 10 months ago, and they are still good as new. The Pila is the Provari of battery chargers.

I use good, protected batteries, so I don't worry that much about the charger. Some people like to play with unprotected batteries still, so they like the security the better chargers offer.
Sawlight, are you saying that you do not use an IMR high drain battery in your Provari Mini? IMR's are a safer chemistry battery that don't need protective circuits. They are also designed for the processor's boost circuit's demand for short high power drains.

I use protected batteries in my mechanical mods, but I don't really trust their protection circuits to prevent a battery catastrophe. I had a protected Trustfire 14500 battery short out in my BB because the power button got compressed in the on position until the battery went into thermal runaway. Huh! So much for protection circuits. :glare:

it has nothing to do with the protection circuit, the battery charger needs to be accurate, if it is overcharging imr batteries it will ruin them, and will shorten the life and possibly cause other problems. the better battery charger is to make sure your not ruining batteries. while 9 bucks isnt a lot i dont feel like throwing it away either because my batteries are only holding 4 hours charge

Even with the cheap Trustfire charger, I'm pulling batteries off at 4.2-4.3 volts. I check them regularly.

Provari in your choice of color with extension cap. Blue or green LED (Easier on the eyes than the dafault red). No extended warranty (You won't need it).
_____

RTD Vapor

Batteries - 2 18650 AW IMR ; 2 18490 AW IMR. You will then be able to use the smaller size when out-and-about, and the longer size for home. I frequently switch from standard to extended mode since I have both.

Charger - If you want to go best, get the Pila. If not, the Xtar's are a quality value choice.

Plastic Battery Cases and Drip Tips If you plan on packing extra batteries in your pocket, you'll need this for safety reasons. RTD has one of the largest, most varied collection of drip tips of any site. Get a couple while you're here.

______

Cartomizers - I use laser-drilled, single coil, standard resistance (2.5-3.0 ohm) in my tanks.

Ikenvape Platinum or 510 Fusions Punched! ("mega" designates an XL length) https://www.ikenvape.com/SearchResults.asp?Cat=1860

Smoktek 3.0 ohm single coil tank replacements with one or two laser-drilled holes Single Coil XL Tank Cartomizer for the SmokTank XL

_____

Cartotanks IBTanked - Get Tanked With Us! 19 mm pyrex glass diameter fits the Provari perfectly. Choose the tube length to the carto you wish to use. Standard tank for 35mm cartos; XL tank for 45mm cartos. Your choice of acrylic plastic or stainless steel endcaps. Cartos and drip tips also available. Recommend the tank filling tool, too.

_____

Carrying Case/Organizer Sold by Smokeless Image for their eGo sized batteries, this is a great case for a Provari. Unlike all the other eGo cases sold by other vendors, this one's webbed pockets open the same way on both sides of the case, so no falling out of supplies when you open it up. Room to carry your Provari, extra batteries, juice bottles, cartotanks or other juice carrying devices, etc. So what it says "VOLT" on the case? Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette

If you have the spare coin to drop on a ProVari, get it now and don't look back!

Here is my take on the extension cap... I personally like the look that the standard cap offers over the extension cap. If they just made an extension "tube" that allows you to use the regular cap with an 18650 I would like that a lot better. To me, one of the great things about the ProVari, along with its obvious performance and build quality, is the machine work on the end cap and top cap. And the accent that the polished top and end cap add to the overall aesthetic of the mod. When you put the extender on there, all you have is just blah color all the way down...

And... For the price they sell the extender cap, you can pick up two more batteries... Something to think about.

So, all that said... Because 18650 life appeals to me more than 18490... I would get a ProVari Mini, and 18650 extender tube from Kir Fannis, and use 18650's on a ProVari Mini, while keeping the stock end cap. That way you keep those aesthetic pleasantries, with the long life of an 18650. The guts of the ProVari and the ProVari mini are the same, the Mini works just fine with big ole 18650 batteries in it :)

This was my plan at first! I bought the mini planning on getting the Kir Fanis extension, but the, roughly, $40 to get it, the life I'm getting out of the 18350's,and the size of the mini, I'm fairly happy so far! I'd love the extension, but can't honestly say how often I'd use it. Also, that, roughly, $40 goes a ling way getting other things in my world!
