Hi

That would be a normal starter kit and a good first introduction to vaping.
Both my parents stopped smoking with this (type of) evod set. They are low maintenance, very easy to use and cost of replacement coils is low. (Order in time from fasttech or similar, around 60$ cent a piece I think)

Can be obtained cheaper though if you have a look around and dont mind the wait. Fasttech will sell exactly the same for half of that price or less for example.

My daughter and I really enjoy our Evod setups. They are very easy to use and maintain, replacements are relatively inexpensive. We have had to replace tanks and batteries a few times, and nothing "breaks the bank" - we are on a relatively tight budget, so ease of replacement and low cost are concerns for any equipment that we purchase. The main expense will be coils, and those are relatively inexpensive. The coils can also be cleaned and reused several times, and, if you are so inclined, can be rewicked and rebuilt to further prolong their usefulness.

If you decide to go with Evod kits, please be aware that the tanks are plastic, and not for use with certain eliquids known to damage plastic tanks, known as "tank crackers" such as cinnamon, citrus, etc. Some eliquid vendors list which of their eliquids have been known to damage plastic tanks, and there is a list somewhere here on ECF. If you can, you may want to order a glass tank or two at the same time you get your kits. The Protank 2 Mini works well with the Evod batteries, and takes the same Kanger single coils as the original Evod tanks.

If you decide to go with Evod 2 setups, those tanks use Kanger dual coils, and the tanks that come with the kits are also plastic. We are currently using Evod Glass, which take the same dual coils as the Evod 2 plastic tanks, and are very happy with them.

Mind you, my daughter and I quit smoking, cold turkey, around 9 years ago. The cravings never left us. Around 3 years ago, between stress and cravings, we were just about ready to cave and get some cigarettes. My daughter had heard about ecigarettes, and we did some research, and finally got some disposable Blus, just to see if vaping would work for us. We have not looked back. We switched from cigalikes to Evods almost 2 years ago, and are very proud and happy to continue to be ex-smokers.

We have found Evods to be reliable, and they provide a good vaping experience for us. They are reasonably priced, and will help you to decide if vaping is right for you.

I recommend the ego one because it'll give you the power to use better tanks, as well as new able to use the cheaper ones as well. The evod is really only good for the smaller ego tanks, so if you want to try something better like the subtank mini or aspire Atlantis, you'll need a new battery again.

Another option is to go one step above and look at the istick 30 battery and aspire Nautilus mini tank. That's also a very popular advanced beginner setup that'll give you some space to try other tanks too. It's up to you, but for 50 bucks, you're better off going with a ten dollar gas station ego setup if you just want to try it out.

I would want something decent for home, where I smoke the most, without having to charge it or refill it too often. When I go out, something smaller & portable would be okay because I'm only having a smoke once in a while. Like at work I have about 2 or 3 smoke breaks in an 8 hour shift. And most of my friends don't smoke so I go outside maybe every hour or so. Does this narrow it down at all? I'll pay whatever. Anything is cheaper than the $85/carton I'm paying now here in Ontario, Canada. A carton does me a bit more than a week.

My only complaint with this is the smaller battery size will not last very long between charges if you are a heavy/frequent vaper. 650 mAh is not a lot. Something along the lines of what biteoff0728 suggested above will give you a much longer battery life between charges.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on taking these first steps to a smoke free life! :)

Newbie here. How about something like this to start out with? http://www.canadaejuice.com/kanger-evod-starter-kit
I'm just researching for now & want to have a couple in mind before I hit the local vape stores.

Hello @Sherry7001 I see you're looking at a Canadian site, does this mean you are in Canada? Prices are way higher in Canada for ecig's compared to US usually double but the advantage of buying from a Canadian site is that you wont have to pay import duties and generally shipping will be cheaper, just a warning don't buy Ejuice from US sites as customs will confiscate it almost all of the time even if it's 0 nic, it is illegal to import nicotine into Canada without a license.

Evod's are great beginner kits if you're looking to quit smoking, if you want giant clouds you will want to look elsewhere, make sure after you put your juice in with a new coil to let it sit a while before taking the first puff 7-10 mins should be fine. You should definitely order extra coils right away, I burnt a few out pretty fast until I got the hang of it...

Just had a friend quit using a Evod, he's 3 weeks smoke free and all the people that live with him smoke.

It's all about what you're looking to spend. What I've found is that you get what you pay for when it comes to Vape supplies. MY first setup was an E-Go one which was fine and good for about a week. Next I went to the Subox mini kit from Kanger which is a great system. The RBA deck isw amazing if that's the type of thing you want to get involved with. I rarely use the Subox these days, but I have a Subtank Mini on an E-Vic mod which I use every day. The tank is amazing and the mod has a fantastic battery life. I also use a IPV4S mod with a Horizon Phantom tank which works perfectly but sucks down the juice very quickly. It's all about what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend on it in my oppinion.

Many started out with the MVP Series 2+ years ago and still use them. They are a brick and have a sense of weight to them, but the take a beating. Currently, Vapingcheap.com has the MVP3 30W for$39.95. Good longterm reputation.

Speaking of MAh,a small kit will have a low MAh. MAh is the longevity of the battery through use. (Basically). When I started I used about 1200Mah per day. Getting a Mod with a low Mah just means another will beneeded while the first is charging.

I would look to get a Mod with an 18650 battery. Then buy a spare battery and a charger.

Anyway, low cost general means low capabilities.
