I will go ahead and be the bearer of bad news here: You can't have your cake and eat it too...

EITHER you can have a compact unit that's roughly the size/feel of a cigarette...
OR you can have a strong e-cig that puts out lots of vapor and "smokes" like a cigarette and lasts most or all day...

...if you had to choose, which one would you prefer?

I totally agree. It WILL WORK!.....you just gotta get the right combo. Not everyone is
successful on the first or the second try....but you gotta try!
The batteries are a critical part of vaping as well as cartomizers as well as juice....
Not as easy as walking into the store and buying your favorite pack of cigs....
but so worth the benefits that you will get from getting off the analogs.

We are all here to help you....take a deep breath and work thru this.
This too shall pass.

Well first and foremost I feel I must tell you that in a way switching away from analogs is like quitting. what i mean is it is a mental challenge, you really have to want to do it or it will never work. Next if you are looking for an e-cig that hits just like an analog you will never find it. e-cigs hit different but just as satisfying. now money wise don't feel bad we all started that way, but knowledge is key and you are in a great place for knowledge just soak it all up, and I would also say hit youtube there are some wonderful review vids there. I personally started with the blu (big mistake), went to a 901 ( a little better), then a 510 (great desision), and finnally to a battery mod (awesome). I thin progression is the key. now today is my one year mark without an analog and i have absolutely no desire to ever go back. don't give up if I can make it anyone can.

I don't think you have to go to a fat battery model like Ego unless your need 6-8 hour battery life and the option of hotter bigger hits with LR (low resistance) atomizers and cartomizers. I do think you need to step up to one of the basic models - 510 or KR808D-1.....

I can't agree with this point because the OP has already tried two small battery devices and has been disappointed.

And better battery devices are NOT just about the length of time between charges. More important is that better battery devices provide more consistent, warmer vapor for a longer period of time because they hold a full or near full charge longer which is required for optimum atomizer performance. Thus the user has a better, more consistent vaping experience!

I do agree that LR attys can improve the vape of a small PV and is a better option than the OP's current set-up. But I have not found them to be on the same level as a better battery device. I also have read that their failure rate is higher than standard atomizers and it also limites to a degree which atomizers one can use. And of course it does not address the continued need to change batteries every hour or so.

If someone has never used a better battery PV, especially a 5 volt or variable volt PV, there is no way they will understand the difference. I've personally seen regular 510 users try a variable volt PV and state that it was like they had not vaped before because the warmth and consistency of the vapor was so much better.

And I will apolgize up front if this is being "picky" but calling an eGo a "fat" body PV is just misleading to a newbie and could scare them into thinking it will be the size of a full size flashlight when at best it is the size of a slim cigar.

Most new users are looking for ease of use, consistency and the "inhaled feel" of an analog and do not understand (understandably so) that you will not get that in a "mini". The OP is frustrated with how much money they spent on two mini PV's and is still not happy. Leading them to another smaller PV may just lead to more frustration.

Let me just say this...I am so depressed with the 2 choices I have made this far and I want an analog terribly. Going to smoke one after I hit the post button as a matter of fact.

I just desperately want this to work out, $300.00+ in the hole with the first 2. Please help, my lungs and my life depend on this. Bummed out hardcore. Have my family and friends who smoke asking about ecigs, want to give them good news and a push in the healthy direction. I know there is an ecig out there for me somewhere...right?

Your choices for PVs seems to have been addressed in this thread.

What stands out for me is I hear you saying you are feeling pressured to make this e-cig experience a successful move away from analogs not only for yourself but also for other smoking members of your family.

I suggest making this about YOU for now and without falling into the mind trap of "doing it for someone else". Too much pressure and in the long run, everyone has to make this journey for themselves, for their own reasons, with the equipment that works for them, and in their own timing.

You already have the respect of every single one of those of us who have posted on this thread and the others who have read it and not posted...you have actually started vaping and participating in ECF.

Every single time you choose to vape instead of lighting up a "stinkie" you are making progress towards becoming who you want to be...in charge of your life instead of driven to inhale 4000 chemicals, stink up your life, destroy your health, and continue to feel like you are a failure every time you buy/smoke another cig.

I appreciate you and your honesty. You will succeed.

Thank you, wv! And now I'm incredibly jealous because not only did you get to attend VapeFest, you got to vape a Darwin! If I can ever get the money together that will probably be my next PV.

Woman of Heart, you are welcome! Your comments always seem to be "on the mark". Knowing I could try the Darwin, I decided to wait to order one. I'm going to have "scrape up the money, also".

I can say this really does seem to be (excuse the expession in honor of me) a "dummy proof" PV. The internal circuitry automatically adjusts the power level based on the characteristics of the atomizer/cartomizer. We all know that as you use an atomizer, the quality of the vape diminishes due to the batteries becoming weaker and the resistence within the atty changing. The Darwin compenstates automatically for these changes which is what provides the excellent consistency for hours of vaping. Although I can't verify this, several users stated that you can definitely get 24 hours of vaping without recharging and several have gotten 2 full days on a charge. And since the batteries are internal and charged just like a pass-through, there is no need to buy or carry extra batteries with this PV.

I think the Darwin is a definite "game changer" in the world of vaping. Being able to have each inhale feel like a brand new atty on fresh batteries for hours is the real selling point. And since it comes with the longest warranty in the business (2 years), it appears to be a very safe purchase and worth the cost.

To make you feel a little better, there was a raffle for two Darwins last night - I didn't win!

You havn't posted again, so I don't know if you are still reading this thread or if you have given up completely and walked away. I hope you are still here.

Anyway, here is my two cents worth. I wonder if the cartomizers and e-liquid you purchased are strong enough. At 24mg I am completely happy to futz about with my 510. At 18mg it becomes a pain in the ... and all I can think about is how I would rather have a cigarette. My advice to you is to keep your existing hardware for the moment and order some sample juices in different strengths. If I were you, I would skip the lower strengths at least anything lower than what you currently have. Try that. If I'm wrong you'll only be out a couple of bucks more. If I am right, the 300 bucks you've got in it now won't be such a waste.

P.S. If your goal is to get off nicotine completley, you can always slowly mix your way down in strength once your are off analogs for a while.

HOORAY! You're still in the game! Look, you just HAVE TO read some of the reviews that are here in the new members section from people who've tried the eGo-T. I really think that's the way to go for you. It's easy to use, requires very little fussing around with it, and the battery lasts most of the day - you'll only need to switch it out one time a day.

** have you looked into returning any of your used stuff for a refund? If that's not possible, ECF does have a classified section where you can try to sell your stuff to someone else.

Sorry to hear about all that. If you want something that 'looks like a real cig' you won't get much for battery life. Aquavaporcig dot com has a great RN4081 and a great 901. They sell the PCC for both so you can always have a charged battery handy. I suggest going with cartomizers rather than the atty/cart combo. If you still want to get one that looks like an analog. If you can get over the fact that doesn't look like a cig, the eGo tank is awesome. Doesn't require as much 'fiddling' as the Attys, carts, and cartos, and a 650mah battery will go for about 10 hours for me. And I vape pretty much constantly. It's really not as big as it looks like.

That's the eGo next to my 4081.

Good luck and don't give up!

Hey, nice eGo setup, what's your specs? Looks stylish :)

Thanks. It's just the eGo-T starter kit from cignot in stainless steel with the standard 650mah battery. I do find it pretty smexi myself. :). Its also the newer style battery with the 5 click on/off safety feature. It was a great buy. I couldn't be happier with it.

Read all of these and am taking every bit of advice! Going to look into the eGo, and what's up with the Darwin someone mentioned?

The Darwin is easily the most advanced PV on the market. It is extremely easy to use because it does all the work with it's internal microprocessor. The user just adds the juice. Here is some pictures (its smaller than it looks in the pictures) and more information:

The only cig sized I liked was from Vapor4Life.I still use their cartomizers. They have a great selection of batts and flavors.

Me too! Go to Vapor4Life. They have beautiful batteries that work great. Get the XL ones; they last longer and are only $1 more. I have 510's, an Ego tank and I love the V4L KR808 the best. The cartos from V4L are great too. My favorites are the melon, peppermint and coffee. I think they have a coupon code posted on the V4L forum.

I have to agree with the votes for V4L. I tried three other brands prior to finding them; boy am I glad I did. The batteries seem to hold their charge for quite some time. You can also get a PCC to take with you so you don't end up without a usuable battery and have to resort to buying analogs. I've devloped a preference for the manuals as I feel I have more control of the drag, but just tried their new "Bling" automatics and the drag is close to manuals - you don't feel like you're sucking air through a teeny straw. They've got tons of flavors and the cartos last a while. I've only recently quit and still find myself power-vaping - when I smoked, I sucked down a 120 cig on a 5 minute break or outside in the cold nearly as quickly, and these carts last a day. Hopefully, I'll realize I'm not timed anymore and can pull back some. Once you find the cart flavors you like, you can get the juice and drip right into used carts and save more money.
The biggest thing is to stick with it until you find what works for you. Best of luck!
