The diacetyl debate has become religious for some people, but I can say that there is evidence (real scientific evidence) that diacetyl is linked to popcorn lung as well as other less severe respiratory problems. This evidence includes not just observational studies of factory workers but also animal studies. Are we as sure as we are about cigarettes being a risk for lung cancer? No. But the evidence strongly points at diacetyl (and AP which is a closely related chemical).

If we were to throw out correlation studies, we would have to throw out most of science.

Like everyone Else, you base your assumptions on information relating to an industrial environment. Not in any way the same as a consumer environment.
And please - Linked to(i.e. one ingredient involved) is not the same as CAUSES.

I am not saying it is not a Risk chemical and agree everyone should think about their choices.
Arsenic is more deadly, but is common in many vegetables in low amounts. Brussels Sprouts are considered one of the healthiest Green vegetables we can eat.

People need to be informed, not Told.
Accurate Information needs to be available.
Studies need to back up claims.

Fiberglass workers are at High Risk in their work environment. The end user has no such risk.

I would be more concerned with the actual amounts of Diketones within a mix than whether the Vendor is using flavoring which contains such.
I would also like clear concise data of Safe levels(if any) from scientific studies.

So far thee leading studies have exposed High Risk Groups - Industry workers.
With-in those Groups, higher Risks individuals. Those working in immediate exposure for long periods of time - Shifts (x) weeks (x) years in the same job with the same exposure.
Even withing those Groups there could be risk pertaining to the individual as the reported cases are far lower than the number of exposed workers.
These studies expose high risk at heavy concentrations. Again much like working in a Fiberglass manufacturing facility or a coal mine.

We cannot live in a Pure Hydrogen or Oxygen environment however the combination in the right balance is a necessity for our survival.
If ones concern is ANY form of Diketones in an Eliquid, Go with a transparent Company and stick with Safe Flavors.
If one feels they cannot trust the Supplier - Vape unflavored.
If one feels vaping is to high risk - DON'T!!

Now..........where did I put my Strawberry Ice Cream Vape

Please, please, please do not discuss the pros and cons of diketones in this thread. It's been done on numerous threads for many years.I honestly don't care that you're vaping Strawberry Cream or whatever. I'm sorry but it's true.

If you have issues with the type of testing VS did, talk about it here. If you think they are doctoring the results, give your reasoning. If yo thinki it's a marketing ploy, by all means talk about it here. If you have results from other vendors, please post here etc....

There has been thread after thread discussing the creaminess and egginess of different vanilla custards and the minute differences in hte texture etc... It wouldn't be respectful if every other post in that thread was by someone admonishing the use of diketones in e-liquid. Please show the same respect and don't derail the thread.

Thank You !

Oh, meh! I am so over this whole debate. Some day, I'm gonna die. My desk job probably does me more harm on a daily basis than anything found in any e-juice. (Sit very very still for HOURS straight and don't move anything except your right hand! No! Wait! Vape with your left!) When they come out with conclusive proof that these e-juice additives are deadly, then, I'll worry. And not one freakin' minute earlier.
This is what I get for showing off!.JPG

I have absolutely no proof whatsoever to back up my feelings or thoughts on the issue and am way to new to vaping to even know what all the fuss is about other than a tid bit thrown this way and that about diketones - which seems to conveniently be the stuff people like the most.

but what I can say on my gut feeling alone and in my own opinion - it is probably a marketing ploy to get an edge on someone else and while I could be totally full of bs and may well be - I am entitled to my own thoughts .

unfortunately with years of hearing bs from numerous folks with numerous agendas regarding tobacco I have to say I am a pretty big skeptic and fairly inoculated to scare tactics - even if they are the gospel truth. this of course does leave me vulnerable IF THE fear is justified.

however after having 3 healthy over eight pound non allergic babies and more than 40 plus years of puffing happily away on 30 to 40 butts a day and still operating with most of my faculties and taking zip for meds I'm quite okay with vaping what I like the taste of for the next 25 years .

and I guess to be completely honest I am exceptionally suspicious of those who try to utilize the fear factor to encourage me to make decisions and I would highly suspect that with all the heavy weights aligned against vaping if there were much concrete fact the hammer would fall faster than I could blink my eye ;)
