Your symptoms seems like nicotine overdose... I've changed my gears recently for RTA and TC mod @12mg/ml and noticed early nic overload symptoms resembling to yours. I've been avoiding full inhalation of the vapor so far, planing to dilute my home made juice down to 9mg/ml. Also, I noticed that my daily ejuice consumption has decreased significantly from 7ml to 5ml suggesting that I am getting more nicotine in my system out of the juice with the new mods I am using. There is many ways to manage the nicotine consumption with vaping. Always drink plenty of water too. Don't smoke and vape safely, Enjoy!

Couple of people mentioning the need to drink plenty of water while vaping - this has helped me a lot and makes for a much smoother vape. I still get a tickly cough when I take in a lot, but I think I'm just getting used to it, and it's more fun with more clouds! :)

That's true... and it actually makes you realise how many thousands of other nasty chemicals (hundreds of which we probably don't even know) you're putting into your body and getting addicted to as well. Scary really!

Truly and you can smell/taste many more of them after stopping! Less than a month in, I had more of a sense of taste and could smell cigarette smoke from a mile away. It made my head hurt and stomach nauseous.

Hang in there, I hope you find an answer that will keep you from the cigs. It took me trying a few different setups but there is a ton of good info I've seen on here.

Thanks for this and sorry to hear you had a hard time in the beginning. Did you consciously make that switch to fulltime vaping or the more you vaped the less you wanted regular cigs?

I knew I had to quit. It was really hard for me. Just as it is for many. Hopefully, you will be one of the ones that just sails into vaping. It does happen.

But, I felt better even smoking one less cigarette. There was a difference.

Ultimately, what worked for me was the simple act of vaping was enough like smoking, even when everything sucked, to allow my body to get past the need for cigarettes.

That's why I suggest to all new vapers, just keep at it. It will work. When you want that cigarette, vape, vape, vape.

If you have some cigarettes, no big deal, try to sneak a vape in there.

The main thing is do not allow any amount of failure to drive you away from vaping for months, or even Years.

Eventually it will come together.

Everyone has trouble figuring out their nic level. Cravings, irritablity, sleeplessness, palpitations. Listen to your body. It will tell you what direction you need to go in.

Thanks for sharing. Is it normal that I'm feeling a little under the weather the past few days (after smoking no cigs at all and just vaping)? I've got a horrid cough and cold, could be the weather, or the vaping... but I'm fairly sure it's my lungs starting to clear themselves out after years of cigarettes. Any thoughts?

Also... what's 'swamp lung'... sounds terrifying!

Usually used to describe a heavy feeling in the chest area, most commonly reported by people who vape high VG juice. But the way it was used in that post I think they were referring to all of the stuff you cough up after quitting smoking for sometime. It's a natural process of your lungs healing and discharging all the gunk built up in there after years of smoking.

Probably a combination of both your body is dealing with a major change and cold weather doesn't help much especially when dealing with the respiratory system.

Hey, yeah nic od for sure... The nic is absorbed different than cigarettes. Teaspoon of sugar melted in the mouth is an excellent antidote. Or a regular coke.

Store bought doesn't give a lot of options going from 6 to 3 is a big difference. You may find for your normal frequency of vaping that ~4mg is best. Doesn't sound like much but 4 is 33% stronger than 3mg. May be enough to get it done and not have a chance to get nic sick. There is a sweet spot.

For cravings you may want to get a tobacco flavor. Hangsen tobaccos are very good and made with a natural tobacco extraction, not only does it taste good but helps with cravings.

Okay, by way of illustration:

I guy I work with, who had been vaping awhile, thought he had gotten too much nicotine, no doubt from listening to all the scare-mongering in the media.

He rushed to the hospital. The verdict: anxiety attack.

Not to say it is unusual to feel under the weather in the beginning.

It's not. But it pays to try and stay relaxed while you go through the process.

Certainly, if you have any known medical conditions you want to keep an eye on those, and over-niccing is a possibilty, but it is by no means the only possibilty.

It is really hard to over-nic, with a traditional vaping set up, until you have been vaping for a while, because the amount of nicotine that you are getting into your bloodstream is about a third of what you get from smoking.

So, if you are smoking 12mg, about the same as in a light cigarette, you are only getting a fraction of that light cigarette nic, when vaping, let's say 4mg.

That will differ for different people, but still, you are not getting the whole 12mg.

At 3mg, jeeze.. in a regular basic ecig? That's not much nic.

Anyway, hang loose. Keep an eye on the situation, but try not to scare the beejeesus out of yourself at the same time

So, I'm actually vaping at 6mg (because that's the nicotine % written on my old box of Camel Lights) so I went for that strength. I didn't realise that the e-cig releases much less nicotine than a cigarette. I know noone can tell exactly, but roughly then, how many puffs would I need until I'd had the same as a cigarette from my 6mg liquid? THANKS! :)

6% nic would be equivalent to 60mg. Your old camel lights are about 12mg.

You would need to be vaping 36mg to be getting what your old camel lights put out in the way of nic from vaping.

If anything, I think you are under-niccing, but that's just my opinion.

I would recommend 18-24mg, and if that caused problems, dropping to 12-18mg.

This is based on the set up you referenced earlier in the thread at 8-10W.

But only you can make that call.

Had no idea about that... I saw on the cigarette 0.06% so assumed that's 6mg. This is really useful thank you. I think I just need to play around with it all and probably get myself a second set up, so I can have one higher and one lower. Thanks very much.
