Did I just mess up?

I've seen the variable batteries and have a basic understanding of what you say about the coil resistance, but right now I'm not sure I have a huge use for playing with that... I probably will once I get more used to the system though. For now I'm just happy I have something that works as well as this seems to. I charged overnight but like yesterday I'm still using the same battery that I started with at 9am, it's almost midnight now and I was definitely using it more today than I was yesterday. Enough that I broke out the bigger tank earlier when my main small one went dry (yesterday my attitude was why do I need a tank this big... oh well I'll get it just in case) :)

I understand, it's definitely something for me to look into, especially if it can bring out the flavor. I have a cappuchino and a grape flavor in particular that have a good taste but it's not quite as strong as I would like. I was thinking I needed a stronger flavored liquid, but now that you mention voltage and such I guess that could adjust it too.

Thanks Alyssasmama, the only luck I need is to find the willpower to not pick up another actual cigarette. When I left work today I was going down the road puffing on the vape, and at one point I reached for a pack of cigarettes that doesn't exist

Which heads do you tend to use? I honestly don't know much about what's out there for these type of vapes, I just figured they were a good place to start.

Not sure what resistance options the CE5s and T2s come in, but the Evods I use have 1.8/2.2/2.5 if memory serves..I'm using 2.5 on a VW device but you may possibly want to try 1.8ohm heads on an eGo battery, just to see the difference in vapor production/vapor temperature. Is it necessarily a huge difference? Not always. Is it worth checking out when you have a few bucks and are already re-ordering more heads? Absolutely.

Enough that I broke out the bigger tank earlier when my main small one went dry (yesterday my attitude was why do I need a tank this big... oh well I'll get it just in case) :)

The further down the rabbit hole you get, the more and more this sort of thing will happen to you, to the point of having a drawer full of things that you went 'oh I can use that at some point'. Not that that's a bad thing, because chances are you will use it, and if not, there's always the PIF forum on here if you want to give back to the community by clearing out things you don't use/don't like.

I just thought you were looking for a set up
I don't know what you have already but if what you have already works then don't rush it
take you time and read around the forum
the VV just gives you more options and more power
allows you to see what different settings are like and develop an Idea of what works for you
from there its just a great jurney
but the beginning is tough I cut back 10 cig a day for a week then 7 then 4 then 2 then 0
but I had crappy cigallikes then the strait ego's then the Ctwist VV now a vamo

wish I could have started with Cwist (that's when it started to click) and skipped a few costly steps

I appreciate the recommendation. I will probably want to play with that a little in a week or two just to see what other results I can get. I didn't see any obvious difference in what was at the local store and at the time didn't know it was an option, so I might have to ask or just order those.

I'm kind of a pack rat anyway and at this point just the amount of options that these things have is fascinating to me, so yeah I can see myself getting quite a collection in the near future haha.

vjc, I may have taken the hard way out too. With the cigalikes I kind of alternated back and forth because they really didn't satisfy me. But I was so dead set on quitting this time that I smoked my last cigarette right after I bought the eGo and I've refused to buy another pack so far. I've been probably a pack a day smoker on average for 8 years, with variations anywhere from half a pack to a pack and a half. I think my stubbornness may just win but it's not easy right now. The setup I have now is just so much better than other e-cigs I've tried that I couldn't really imagine it getting much better, but now you guys have me thinking... :)

Gets even much better after the VV and on to new things but VV give you a good starting point to see where you want to go from there
However In the first 2 to 4 weeks its tough It's all about not smoking
After that its about the new wild new journey
Now I am 5 or 6 month's and cant remember the last time I thought about a real cigg
But I fell in love with vaping

I started off with an eGo-C and their crappy CE5 clearos. Those didn't last long :). I've been smoking/dipping roughly a pack a day for years now, and I found it incredibly difficult to quit at first, mostly because of the unsatisfying vape experience.

So, after Joye clearos, I moved to boge carts and carto tanks, which were a little better. Add in a VV mod (A provari, which btw is the best $150 I ever spent, such a quality piece), and finally I was starting to not want to smoke and dip all the time. But, there was still something that bugged me with the carto-tanks, specifically that no-middle ground between burning cotton and gurgling overfill. I was ready to be done with it again, and back to analogs, then I found the Kanger ProTank and my new favorite, the 510 drip atty. Now, it's been almost a month for me of abstinence from analogs.

The point here is that its simply good that you've got on the right track here, even though it may be a bumpy ride at first. Many of us go through that experimental stage where we have to find what works for us. The best part is all the new and fancy tricks people come up with everyday. Best of luck to you :)

Thanks gankoji, glad to hear that the right setup helped you :) I definitely want to look at some alternatives to the CE5. It's not that I don't like it, just that I'm sure there's something better and I'm probably going to have to order it so it's nice to hear some of other people's favorites and give me an idea of what to try next. I like being able to see what I have left but a different style isn't a deal breaker or anything. I do want to try one that feeds from the bottom of the tank though. So many options! lol

Today at work I had a major problem with the T2. I had just switched my menthol juice to that one the night before because I figured it would last me all day even if I didn't alternate between that and one or two others (but probably not). Well I tend to keep the PV in an empty front pants pocket when I'm not using it, and I found out the hard way today about the fatal flaw in those where the mouth piece separates from the threads. It didn't come off in my pocket so I must have pleased some deity or another, but I started to get a burning taste as I was using it. I thought maybe the wick was a little dry so I tilted it around some, still got the burning taste and stronger this time. I was irritated of course because I was kind of impressed with it before that. A little later I noticed there was a small gap between the mouth piece and the rest of the tank... I went to tighten it down and it kept spinning, then I popped it right off. I immediately went to my truck and grabbed one of the clearos that came with my kit and had to dump out the small amount that was left in it so I could swap the menthol over to it. Kind of a shame, because when the T2 was functioning it seemed smoother and richer than the others I was using. I'm drying it out now and I'm planning to use a small amount of epoxy or sealant I have laying around, nothing toxic, and hope that solves the problem. But I will be keeping a close eye on it.

I thought this thread was forgotten about, lol. I was just going to let it die and I've been kinda lurking instead of posting. I appreciate the interest though :)

I did "fix" the T2 but it didn't seem to hit the same after that. It's like it's getting too much air and not enough juice. It's possible that I didn't give it a chance to properly wick though because I was kind of in a hurry when I tested it and there's no logical reason it would hit differently after I messed with it. I had let it dry overnight and was about to go to work, and when it wasn't up to my expectations I poured the juice back into my CE5 and took off. I haven't really messed with it after that because I usually only go through around 1.2 ml of fluid in a day right now. I really thought I'd go through more than that, but after the first few days I had less of a nicotine craving I guess. It seems like I'm vaping more than I smoked because I can pretty much do it anywhere, but I sometimes catch myself going a lot longer between vaping sessions without even realizing it especially when I have a busy day at work.

Updates, let's see... I lost one of my CE4s. Not a huge disappointment I guess but I can't for the life of me figure out what happened to it. I was carrying it around just to have an extra flavor on hand. I'm not worried because I still have another one of those plus two CE5s, one of which I've been keeping put up. I mostly just vape my menthol juice all day and go for the cappuccino when I want something different. I have to say though, the kit has more than lived up to expectations and I'm very happy with it. Battery life and quality is amazing compared to my old cigalikes, it's less to carry and less restrictive than smoking analogs. I did however relax my "no analogs ever" stance: If I'm especially stressed or if I've been drinking, sometimes the vape just doesn't quite cut it and I don't want to puff on it until I'm blue in the face. This thing has more than paid for itself already in analogs I haven't smoked from both a money standpoint and how I feel about myself. Something about the vape makes an analog taste... different than it did before, it's hard to describe but I don't really like it and that keeps me in check.

Oh, there is one other thing! I don't think I mentioned it before, but I accidentally made a flavor that I really liked. At one point when I was switching clearos (it may have been when the T2 failed?) I was swapping out the CE5 from grape to menthol but I didn't rinse it out first, I just poured it out and whatever was on the wick stayed behind. Menthol with a dab of grape is smoother than grape by itself, and mellows out the menthol just the right amount since I originally thought it was a tiny bit too minty. I was pretty amused with that and I think I'll do it again.

At first I thought using this was going to get me questioned at work (like they'd think I was vaping something less legal) but two of my coworkers vape and one guy has an Ego setup as well so they already knew what the deal was. I also found out one of my friends switched around the same time I did, he has a Twist with a T3 and loves it. I've been spreading the word too... My cousin and two of my friends are thinking seriously about getting one now. I'm so glad I gave this a chance. I haven't gotten any new toys yet mostly because I've been very content with what I have, but also lack of time and disposable cash. Next time I go pick up some juice I'll probably grab something else to play with though.

I know I haven't posted in a while, I do lurk around here periodically though (guess I'm kinda shy). I hope I'm not breaking any rules by dredging my thread back up... But I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the help and support. I did fall back into analogs for a small time and other times I'd alternate a bit... Now I try not to have one at all unless I'm having a couple drinks and even then it's nothing like it used to be. I feel and smell so much better.

So for news, I ditched the CE4s, I don't see how I ever used them. They sit in my drawer in case I need a mouthpiece (I broke one) or an o-ring. In my main CE5 the coil finally started acting up and because I'm awesome I had a spare head (I hope I'm using the right terminology here) sitting around, so I went to replace it and... Oops, wrong style, didn't fit. So naturally I got irritated that I had wasted my money and took apart the old one to see what made it tick. The wick was nasty! I probably should have replaced it a week or two ago. I pulled out the wick and coil to examine it. I thought, hey this can't be too hard... So feeling a bit adventurous, I took apart the new one too and attempted to put the coil and wick into the old assembly. Long story short, first attempt I think I didn't make the connection properly and got nothing. Second attempt I accidentally grounded out because I couldn't see the microscopic little wire reaching out where it wasn't supposed to be. Third time I started over from square one with a straight wire and 4 loose pieces of wick and went from there. Well, it doesn't look perfect in there but it WORKS! I'm pretty proud of myself right now. All I needed was a flat screwdriver, a pair of tweezers, and a lot of patience (and better eyesight would probably help too).

Also, just picked up a T3 and I'm really liking it so far. I think I mentioned before that I wanted to go for something that feeds from the bottom to try out a cooler vape. It definitely fits the bill and looks good too. Got the T2 working properly again, I think I just didn't let it completely dry out from when I rinsed it and it was trying to burn off water. I didn't touch it for a couple weeks after all that, I was just tired of looking at it. Works great, a little warm sometimes, but mostly good smooth vapor. I did pick up a mouthpiece for it to replace my hastily repaired one. They called it a drip tip but from what I read here that may not be correct. But it doesn't fit right and it leaks and gurgles if I lay it down on its side, so that's kind of disappointing. On the plus side I had the T2 at work today and the repair I made is holding up just fine so far.

Now I understand how some of you guys get so obsessed over these things. Walking into the local shop today I got kid in candy story syndrome and ended up spending $40 instead of the $20 I had put aside for it. Anyway, hope everyone is well :)

Oh, good. I'm glad I searched and found this thread. I just got my 2 kits in the mail. One wall adapter is DOA and the brochure says ekungfu. The wall adapter should be easy and cheap to replace at the local shop so I'm not going to worry about it.

Now, do I really, really have to wait a whole 8 hours to try it out? I've been so patient. I'm afraid my need for instant gratification is going to win out.

I don't see the need to wait that long. As I understand it those instructions are generic and meant for non-lithium batteries. I'm not an expert but from everything I've read and experienced, a lithium battery doesn't care about charge cycles. I usually wait till it says it's charged then give it about another hour just to be safe but I've never had problems with any lithium battery even if I just take it out of the box and kill it then charge it back halfway etc.

Edit: By the way, those ekungfu batteries worked just fine for several months until I got an iTaste VV and retired them. Happy vaping!

Thanks for the reply. I'll have some juice within the hour and I'll go ahead and give it a try.

I'm looking forward to an itaste, but I had to come up with 2 kits and juice that would come in under our RYO budget. Convincing my husband that this would be cheaper is the only way I talked him into it.

I figure I can slowly upgrade the gear. A new battery here...a glass tank there...it'll work out.

First of all hello to everyone, I'm new to the forums. I've been lurking around here for a few days because a lot of my questions have been asked a million times already. I'm not exactly new to e-cigarettes but most of my previous ones were purchased at gas stations and such out of convenience and with varying success, to try to cut back on smoking. I came to realize that the "cigalikes" aren't really for me, they seem to be more frustration than they're worth. So that leads me to my possible dilemma.

I decided I was going to quit smoking cigarettes this time (which I have so far, it's been two days since I had a real cigarette) and I was pretty adamant about doing it within a day or two. A new smoke shop just opened up in my town that sells only e-cigs, juice, and accessories. I decided to "support my local supplier" and all since it's the only one here, and made my purchase there instead of online. I had been looking at eGo models on this site (Ego Cigarettes) and had pretty much decided that's what I was going to go for since I had tried that style before and several people I know have them and like them a lot. They had them in the shop... I think. It came with a hard case that says "eGo" on the front, and they let me swap batteries because I didn't like the color: one says "eGo-T" on it and the other is stainless with black designs engraved and no brand markings. They both have the 5-push safety off. I also bought a couple extra "CE5" clearos with replaceable wicks, a "T-2" that holds 2.4ml liquid, and an extra wick for each. When I checked out the manual after getting home, I noticed it refers to the product I bought as "eKungfu eGo-K(CE4)". Waaait. What's eKungfu, I thought the brand was Joye? Did I just buy some cheap clone that's going to fail in a week? If I decide to order something online that my shop doesn't have, will the parts fit?

I'm just a little wary of it I guess. So far the kit has been working very well, 10x better (for me at least) than any cigalikes I've tried to use for any length of time. I've gone through about 2 1/2 or 3 tanks of 1.6ml each and yesterday my battery lasted me from 10am-2am and was still going strong. I felt like I was vaping pretty heavily since I was using it a lot more often than I would smoke cigarettes, but according to some things I've read maybe not so much.

We all make our own mistakes, I wasted a lot of money on all kinds of things - nicotine gum, patches, Blu cigs - it's fine. As long as you don't smoke, it's FINE. You can get more money. You can't reverse or return lung cancer and emphysema.
