Did I lose a coil or is it just dying?

Put a cleaned DC 1.6 ohm in the tank and filled it up. It seemed weak @ 4.2V so I metered it and got about 3.0 ohm. I flush them with hot water through a tight fitting hypo and ream the air hole with a piece of wire if the draw starts getting hard. Can you lose a coil and the other one still fire? I'm not sure how they work!

Got it figured out. One coil will work by itself if the other one is broken. Negative lead comes in between the coils. Positive lead for the top coil comes in from above and the lower coil is soldered to the center post. That's where it was broken, at the connection to the center post. Probably my fault for reaming the air hole with wire to improve the draw. The coil wrap was pretty burnt so it was time for this guy to retire anyway.

Lousy pic. Hopefully you can get the idea.
