I just bought 2 authentic MNKE 26650s, put one in my device and one in the VP2, which has always worked fine. When it was done charging, I took the other new one out of my Seven 22 mod, which the battery was working fine in, and put it in the charger to charge also. I took the one that was done charging and put it in my Seven 22. Nothing!!! I thought maybe I had a dud battery(rare). So this morning, I put the other new MNKE in the Seven 22, and now this one doesn't work in the Seven 22 since charging it in the VP2. Neither of the batteries are reading a charge either, just the standard 3.6 it reads when you plug the charger in. So now, neither battery is working, and one did work until I put it in the charger, the other I never even got the chance to try in the Seven 22. So as of right now, i'm using a Panasonic 18650 in the Seven 22 believe it or not.

What the heck happened? I'm so ...... off, and I can't find the cord for my Xtar SP2, so I couldn't charge the new ones I now have on order in that, and am afraid to charge anymore in the VP2. All other batteries charge in the VP2 just fine, just not the MNKEs. I don't get it. Did they somehow overcharge, even though the VP2 and SP2 are supposed to protect from that happening. Any input would help, because I don't know what to do, and I have 2 more of the same batteries on the way, albeit from a different seller. I believe them to be authentic anyhow, so I don't know what's going on.

Thanks for any input in advance,
John-Paul

Looking at the specs for that charger, they're not designed to charge 26650 batteries.

http://www.xtardirect.com/products/xtar-vp2-charger

Features:

1. Two independent charging channels for 10440/16340/14500/14650/17500/17670/18350/18500/18650/18700 Li-ion battery

Edit -- Probably help if I read the WHOLE page. Apparently it can charge the 26650 batteries. (Thanks Stosh!)

Ensure you have the voltage on the charger set properly as well.

Checking out the link that Retired1 left it may depend on if you have version 1 or 2 of the charger.

Down on the bottom it shows the specs as....

1. VP2 can charge 26650 batteries.

But also ....

2. VP2 has 3.2V/3.6V/3.8V optional charging voltage. 3.2V is for Li-FePO4 batteries and 3.6V & 3.7V is for Li-ion batteries.

I have mistakenly set my charger to 3.2v and done the 'What is wrong with the $#*^@!@ charger / battery now dance'.

This may be what you are experiencing. I don't own an XTAR so I'm not sure how easy this mistake might be.... The best way to check would be with a voltmeter to see what the voltage of the batteries are, and also be able to check what voltage the charger is using to charge the battery.
