OK, so I'm a little late to this party (Story of my life lately), I turned a month ago and my party was a blast - Highly recommend all who are turning to avail themselves to this wonderful opportunity. The regulars in the pre-vet thread do a great job helping all celebrate their first year on the forums!

I turned vet today and celebrated with a bunch of VERY special folks on the pre-vet forum. When I learned that new veterans had a turning party, I began checking the turning parties out on the pre-vet forum. The participation of the members, the pictures, warm wishes, witty comments. etc. made me impatient for my own turning. I was thrilled today. I highly recommend everyone celebrate with an avatar party. It's a warm feeling to see avatars changed in honor or your special day and awesome pictures posted of your theme. A turning day is special.....all of here have struggled to reach this point, marking a year into our smokefree lives. I think the Turning Day celebration is a perfect way to mark this accomplishment in ending a horrible addiction. Probably most of here couldn't have done it without this forum. I, for one, couldn't have. My party was an amazingly memorable event.

i guess the first thing i should say is WOW !

my pre-vet avi party was soooooooooooo much more than i anticipated !

the timing was just PERFECT, let me explain...

friday 2-24, was my birthday (49) and was great, thanks to my family and
friends...and taking a vacation day from work, lol, 3-day weekend-woot-woot !

saturday 2-25, i dropped by the pre-vet thread and hung out with the fine
folks that run the show. i made some new friends and really got a more
comfortable / at home kind of feeling for ecf. i highly recommend doing this
before the party. it also helped get rid of some of the jitters and anxiety which
tends to come with the unknown (at least with me, lol). by the time i left, my
jitters had turned to excitement and eager anticipation ! i was already sky high
(legally-i dont do drugs, drink OR SMOKE, yay, thanks ecf !) from my birthday
party on friday and this just kicked it up a notch or two !

sunday 2-26, was MY DAY ! i woke up with one thing on my mind, my avi party...
well, and breakfast, lol. i actually couldnt wait for 2:25 to get here. thats not
like me...sunday is the last day of the weekend and the day before monday, blechhh !
i want sundays to last forever ! but this day, i wanted MY PARTY ! i even pm'd jj
about an hour early to see when i could arrive, lol. she said c'mon in and i did. it
was much like saturday night with them...but different...i felt SPECIAL... yep, that
describes it perfectly...SPECIAL...and it was awesome. we chatted, i got to see
more of my beloved charmed pics (such memories) and watch my precious minutes
fly by. when my time arrived, it was a glorious array of colors and banners and
messages and fireworks, just awesome ! i also got a major scare...about 3 minutes
prior to my time...my son did something to our router and i had to reset it...i made
it back with seconds to spare. lol, it never fails, but i DID make it back in time and
this just made things a little more exciting ! well, then i got to go to my vet welcome
thread...that just about pushed me over the edge emotionally, lol. had to hold back
the tears...has it really been a year ? time sure does fly ! but that wasnt all, then
i got to register for a contest, exclusive to vets. i may not win anything, but it
doesnt really matter. they have already given me something that will never break,
get lost or be taken away from me...a special time, in a special place, with very
special people...

i cant thank yall enough

I'd heard about avatar parties but never pictured myself having one. I got a pm letting me know I was going to turn vet and inviting me to have one so decided to stop by the thread. Went to the pre-vet thread and introduced myself and ya'll ran with it. Next thing I knew I had a party scheduled and a theme picked out. The closer it got the more I started looking forward to it but when it started it went far beyond my wildest expectations. Due to ECF software not realizing it was leap year and changing my status a day early I don't think anybody will forget it anytime soon lol. Words can't describe what today meant to me. If you're turning vet and thinking about not having one you're going to miss one of those once in a lifetime experiences. I'm sure glad I took ya'll up on your generous offer and thank everybody who participated. Added bonus is the contest but that's the bread and butter. The real meal was the party.

Turning day (was supposed to be tomorrow) was like surviving Y2k without notice. The fine folk that give so much time to the avi parties barely skipped a beat and I basked in the glory of the countdown, the bird, now what the heck was that about?, fireworks, cake, and warm welcomes from all. I doubt many will quickly forget the leap year glitch of 2012. It is something I share with a handful of vets and is even more special.

Have the avi paty! You will have a blast.

Thank you so very much to all who give your all to make a memorable vet turning for all members. You are the embodiment of the goodness on ECF and true gems. What a great community!

Why, yes, yes I did celebrate a Pre-Vet party! :D

After hanging out in the Pre-Vet thread forever (or at least sure seemed like it ;)) and celebrating with the other WONDERFUL ECF members who passed on through the guarded gates (without me ), I finally made it through the shining portal myself!

While it has been (and will be) great fun celebrating with those Turning Vet, being the Turnee was infinitely more enjoyable :D :D :D! It was a BLAST, my theme was The Big Bang Theory (tv show ;)) and I loved all the pictures and YouTube clips.

And then the countdown ... ... and BAM!! I was an ECF VETERAN!! The BIRD ... OH THE BEAUTIFUL BIRD ! All the fireworks and Congratulations flying hither and yon ... 'twas MAGICAL  :D. Then the mad scrabble to get to my Welcome Thread (awwwesssommme!); then running up and down the hallowed hallways of the VIPs, peeking into the threads, seeing what the Movers and Shakers had been doing behind the Veil all this time ... quite breath taking.

Many, many, many THANKS to all who work behind the scenes to make becoming an ECF Veteran such an occasion!! A special thanks to jj-tigger, the Keeper of the List, jj :).

Whiskey, I bow to the Queen of the Avatars, the Keeper of the Bird, the Partier at the Gates and a quite awesome and wonderful person!

My vet turning party was today and it was great fun to celebrate a significant milestone with so many others. :) Thanks to all the pre vet folk for making the day so special! I hesitated over signing on to the party and while I was hesitating, you all took me in hand. I still cannot believe a year has passed but, I know it did 'cause I have all these cool hats I can look back on. You all were so generous with your time and I sincerely thank each and every one of you!
