This is a controversial subject.

Before anyone discounts my comments as a Provari fanboi, I will relate some facts that can be proven by testing. Nearly all of the Chinese-made VV/VW devices use a cheaper PWM (pulse width modulation) frequency of 33 Hz. The Provari uses a more sophosticated and expensive processor that makes PWM at 800 Hz and uses better filters. Some people can experience a difference between the two, others can not. The difference in vape would be minimal but noticeable.

Now comes the subjective commentary: The Provari has only VV, no VW, but most people who choose a Provari really don't need VW. It uses a simple basic LED screen, not a fancy OLED.

People who buy a Provari choose it because it is the most predictably dependable, consistant, reliable, durable, and repairable mod available today. Provape is a company that has a stellar track record for customer service, and will repair a Provari for as long as you own it. (None of the Chinese mods are repairable after their short warranty.) There are no bells & whistles included in a Provari, no puff counters or connections to a computer to monitor vaping history. It just does what it is supposed to do, each and every time.

or is it mostly the digital screens and readouts that are different?

with just a couple exceptions many of the china devices use the same or almost the same chips. so with a little variation many act the same but look different.

with that being said i notice a difference between the vamo and my provari and semovar. i think the higher pulse width and cleaner regulation do affect vapor a bit. i have one atty that just doesnt vape the same on the vamo at all. I like the vamo for what it is. it has a lot of features and is a great way to get into mods cheap.

but i personally think beyond the performance VS price there are better. many people cant see or tell the difference, some can. it will be up to you to judge really.

Hell, I notice a huge difference between my Vamo and SVD. SVD > Vamo with many of my tanks/juices. The SVD is more consistent for lack of a better term. I couldn't tell you what accounts for this difference.

I suspect I would notice a difference trading up to a provari although I'm still not convinced that the return is really worth the investment as my primary goal has already been achieved: to quit smoking.

And there you have your answer. Having a Provari is not for everyone. Although many owners make the claim that it gives a higher quality vape (just look at the responses of new owners in the Provari subforum), this is not the primary reason that they purchase one. If you are happy with what you have, there's no reason to change to something else.

There is a noticable difference in the vape in my opinion.

When I got my provari, I unscrewed my topper from My SVD and on to the Provari. It tasted better. I really thought it was in my mind since I spent so much on it ( maybe I wanted it to vape better), So I recruited two vaping friend/ relatives that didnt know a Provari from an Ego, that do not read these forums.

I laid out my SVD, My MVP, Vamo, twister and Provari....... I had three IBTanked Toppers filled with diff juices. I asked all to try them all out and asked opinions stating.."Do they all taste the same to you ?" I did it as fair as possible, low voltage, no burn carts, etc.

It was unanimous. They both said the Provari tasted better.

I dont know what it is, but the flavor seems better coming out of the Provari. Go Figure.

P.S. ( You can find several posts in these forums of me telling Baditude, Bill Beck and Thrasher that there could not be a noticable difference between mods... It's just voltage.....and voltage is voltage. I have been eating crow ever since

The SVD ended up being my favorite before I got my Provari. My family still uses those well built Mods.

Is the cost of the provari worth it? If I wanted to vape to quit and move on, probably not. But I have since gotten to where I enjoy a good vape and do my own Juice mixing of juices and have gotten pretty picky about my toppers. Its all in the taste for me now.

For me, the answer is yes. I ordered my second one last week and got it yesterday. (gave it to my wife.... my excuse for a back up for me) :D

Is there any difference in the quality of the vapor between different VV's? I have a Vamo, besides satifying my craving for more hardware, will a different VV perform better, or is it mostly the digital screens and readouts that are different?

I have an evic, a robust A, a Seigeli Zmax mini and a ProVari mini. Personally, I think there is a difference between the Evic and the other three in that there is less airflow around the bottom of the tank on the evic, and I get less vapor and a harder pull.

That being said, of the other three that have more airflow, there is almost equally more vapor and smoother draw, with the ProVari producing the most of the three. As for taste, I think it is a little more pronounced on the ProVari, maybe because it constantly regulates itself. So the "better" taste on the ProVari may be in overall performance of the unit.

If there is a b&m shop near you that has different vv's for sale, or friends that have mods you are considering, see if you can take your favorite tank of your favorite juice with you and do a taste test on them before you make a decision. That would be the wisest way to find what YOU like best, be it a ProVari or something else.

Hope this helps and happy vapeing ;)

My husband has an iTaste MVP, and although I do not own one, I have used an Evic. I do notice a differnce between them and my ProVaris. The chipset is different as already mentioned, and I find the ProVari hits harder. As a ProVari owner, I have no need to try other VV/VW devices, nor have I ever bought one (actually I purchased a Vamo once and then cancelled the order in favor of a ProVari).

I have a Vamo V2 and and a SID and I've tried a ProVari and the Vamo and SID are identical as far as how smooth a vape they have and the ProVari is slightly smoother but it would be a tough sell to say it's worth the extra money for vape quality alone.

The ProVari has a better build quality but for the price I think I'm still going to wait a while.

What would sell me right now would be if the ProVari had variable wattage and an updated display both of which seem to be over due.

I'm something of a mod junkie (that's not the word my friends/family use, but it's a good PG-rated compromise, lol). I"ve got a Provari, 2 Vamo's (v.2), a Smoktech Zmax, a Sigelei Zmax mini. Not to mention 2 e-pipes and VV REO Grand. What I seem to grab more than the others, though is my penguin:

Do I notice a significant difference in flavor and/or vapor between any of them? Not really. Any real difference I generally attribute to the fact that I have all of my VW devices set to the same wattage (8.5), something I can only approximate with my Provari and my Penguin.
What sets the Provari and my Penguin apart is that I can get them repaired when something happens. I recently had a button go bad on my Zmax mini; I don't have any real repair options.

I think without a true blind test with all factors being equal there is no no way to say your juice tastes "better" on device A or B-of course, if I spent a lot of money on any mod, I would like to think it tastes better, also. I like to think everything is better on my upscale dna20 mods but that is wishful thinking not definitive proof. fact is, my juice still tastes the same on my sigelei zmax. the other devices may be better built, more reliable, and with better fit and finish, but when the juice hits the coil I doubt it can tell the difference.
