Hello, I'm very new to all this. For my first setup I ordered two EVODs from two ebay sellers. I noticed that they're not the same and was wondering why. The black one came with a short stem and no logos of any kind and the silver one came with a long stem and a logo on the head. The knurling on the stems is different too. And neither have "EVOD BCC" printed on the tank like I've seen on other EVODs.
(I forgot to put the silicone gasket back on the black one for the picture.)

EVOD has almost become a generic term now for that type of tank.
Kanger were the original manufacturer and the one on the left with the shorter stem was the one they came out with first - although that does look like a fasttech copy to me. No big deal, they work just fine.

I've had some (genuine as far as I can tell) Kanger EVODs that say BCC and some that don't.

The one on the right has the longer "protank" heads in it. It seems that Kanger is going away from the short stem and most vendors only sell the longer stemmed version now. The difference in vaping performance is minimal in my experience.

There are a lot of knock-offs, clones and copies out there - honestly, I haven't had too many bad EVODs. I wouldn't worry about it too much, so long as they vape well, taste decent and don't gurgle or leak, it really doesn't matter IMHO.

EDIT - Sorry, forgot to say welcome to the forum, this is such a great place to read, learn, share and make new friends. Hope you find your way around and enjoy.

Do I dare to suggest buying from ECF registered venders instead of looking for the cheapest thing? Most of them have some sort of support & good customer service. Some review and test the products they sell. Plus, they help make it possible for ECF to exist. Discount Vapers monitors his own thread here and I've found to be quite helpful. Got Vapes is usually first to get the latest products on the market and has a whole forum area. There are a few direct from China vendors too.....Health Cabin and Eastmall are two.

It's tough enough trying to switch to analogs and some of the sometimes futzy details about vaping without having more problems because one's replacement Evod wasn't near as nice as one's first Kanger Evod.....and that "clone" was your backup, and that highly recommended e-liquid tastes like dog pooh today, and you forgot to charge your spare battery.

All first run Evod coils had a short pipe.
Now all coils will be Evod/Protank and have the long pipe.

There are copies of the Evod. Bodies are the same but coils are a bit junky. Replacing with Kanger coils is all that is needed to get good performance.
Off brand heads can be re-coiled to improve performance.

I have 2 Evod's - direct from Kanger, via coop - No logo on either

Logos can be added per request on orders of XXX quantity by venders. They can even have their name imprinted.

Are short stems and long stems interchangeable? Can I put a newer long stem coil in a tank that originally came with a short stem?

Yes you can. All new Kanger Protank/Evod coils will have the new longer pipe.
I have not received my New Coils, direct from Kanger, so not sure if inner Diameter of the tube. Original Evod tubes have a Narrower opening than Original Protank Tubes and this gives a tighter Draw.

Some may prefer to keep the old Tubes and switch purely for personal preference.

Thanks fellas.
I have 17 Evods and honestly not sure any are real Kangers.I have one Kanger T3S which is laser marked but non of the rest are. It realy makes no differene to me as they all seem to require a bit of tweaking such as new coil / wick ,removing or adding flavor(?) wicks etc...

I have both the new and old coil designs. The newer design (Longer Stem) seems to work better. It seems to allow the base to screw onto an ego battery without destroying the coil and the draw seems more consistent. Could just be me though.

I have the same experience, but others are posting the opposite. I guess, as always, YMMV.
