What you are seeing is a Provari with a "beauty ring", so that the tank would sit flat.
That was my first thought. But, the topper is too small around to hold a tank Ring on, isn't it? Wouldn't it fall off with a topper that small in diameter?
ETA: Ok, I just went ahead and asked her. I don't know why I didn't just do that in the first place. I'll let you know if it's anything but the obvious (a tank ring).

Those tanks are slightly wider than the top of a Provari cap, so while it doesn't really look "right", it's probably just enough to keep the ring in place. So far the only Provari ever made with a flat top(aside from the P3) is the new Titanium Provari v2.5, and their top cap is identical to the P3.
It could be a slant ring. I know I've seen one somewhere for 19mm devices but can't remember where I came across it. The provari v2.5 has the new tube design and the newer top cap for better airflow.

I don't see anything on the website comparing the different versions. I can see why not since they no longer sell the older versions. But, since many of us can only afford a used Provari, it would be nice to know all the differences.

Then V2 to V2.5 is cosmetics only. Electronics are identical, V2 to V2.5
