Disapointed new user Ruyan V-8

I purchased the Ruyan V-8 e cig on 3-22-09. The first week it was great. Nice vapor and was even begining to smoke less real cigs.

Then it started. I can't seem to get hardly any vapor at all. I charge the battery a full 8 hours and longer so I know the battery is ok. I read some of the posts here about cleaning the atomizer but dont have a passthrogh thing anyway.

I have email Ruyan support three times and they seem to be ignoring their customers. How do you get them to respond? And how do you get Ruyan to honor the one year warranty?

I thought this was supposed to save money compared to real cigs but so far it sounds like I am gonna have to spend even more just to make the darn thing work. I am getting tired of fighting it.

I just looked up the Ruyan V-8. 170 bucks!! Wow, that's up there.

It says the V-8 comes with one cartridge. Did you order extra carts when you bought the cig?

There's not a lot of experience here with buying from Ruyan but if you check in with Dan at Smokeless Wonder he might be able to advise you. He's a Ruyan trader with a great reputation for looking after his clients.

Actually, I only paid $99.00 for it. I don't gamble but the casino in Illinois can't let folks smoke while they are so they have them for sale in the gift shop. I went and bought one. I had originally tried the disposable one that most convenient stores have for sale now. They just hit here in the last month. I did buy 5 cartridges at the same time I got it and then ordered 10 more from smokeless wonder.

The man who sells them to the conveneint stores to sell here says due to a law suit Ruyan brought against the e cig people in china we won't be able to get any from anyone else. But he isn't very helpfull cause I didn't buy from him. I got it from the Casino. Course they say I need to contact Ruyan, which I have done and they won't even acknowledge my messages.

I try to puff on in as I would a cigarette and although it lights up I don't get much vapor or taste. If I puff on it real hard I do get the vapor but it doesn't take long before the battery balks. I just don't think the atomizer is working right.

The cartridges never last as long as claimed. Don't throw the old carts away. Pick up some e-juice and refill them. I buy the heavy nicotine juice and cut it with glycerin. I get pure USP glycerin from CVS Pharmacy in the cosmetics section. A 50 / 50 mix with your e-juice gives you loads of vapor.

I have not thrown any of the cartridges away. I did order e juice from Johnson Creek. (Didn't know about the glycerin trick) But haven't used any of the e juice yet. I have 10 new cartridges that I ordered from smokeless wonder. They are supposed to produce 300 mouthfuls of vapor and although I haven't counted, I sure know that you don't get that many.

I purchased two additional batteries so I have three. One battery will be on the charger, the ruyan book says 8 hours for the first charge then 3 to 4 hr sessions. So after the battery has been on for 4 hrs sometimes longer, put it on the atomizer, and put in a new cartridge. Charge a battery.

If I draw on it like a real cig, the led lights up but I get no vapor. I have to draw real hard to get a little puff. But a couple of draws like that and the atomizer gets hot. Then if I do it a couple of more times the battery blinks rapidly and dies. Oh if I let is sit it does come back again but then I get no vapor or very little. (According to the ruyan manual a user should inhale no more than 15 times per hour and no mor intensly than they would otherwise use common cigarettes.)

That is not the way I smoke real cigs. I'm a two and a half or three pack a day smoker. That's why I thought I would give it a try.

The batteries have a mini circuit in them that limits draw time. If you draw too long, the battery will flash and shut down. (Usually for about 10 seconds, If I remember correctly) It's a built in safety device.

Vaping is close, but not quite like analogs. Here's how I do it. This is with a good battery. A pass through will be even better.
1) Take an easy but steady draw, and get as much as you can in your mouth.
2) Gently inhale, & gently exhale.

I get a good hit, and good vapor (More vapor with the glycerin.)

As far as I can tell, this is essentially an 801 almost like an 801, so any tips, tricks, or problems with them should apply to the V8 as well... I guess.

ETA -
It's not exactly an 801... it's very slightly thinner and the threads for the atomizer are not as recessed as on the 801 - Maybe a mm difference. Also the 801 charger doesn't seem to work with it.
Battery and atomizer seem to be interchangeable.

Did anyone else get cigar flavor with their V8? I think it's cigar, could be some kind of pipe, but it reminds me of a ceder wrapped cigar in an aluminum tube that I once smoked. Bit of a surprise after such manly flavors as watermelon, strawberry, etc.
Vapor production seems not so good, but IIRC the other 801 took a few days to get broken in so I'll reserve judgment.

I paid way too much for this thing through no fault but my own, so by gum I'm going to make it my primary puffer and hope I can stretch the truth enough to claim it is worth every penny.
