I got a Provari yesterday. It came with a Protank II as well as I had purchased a couple of Smoktech Pyrex DCTanks. I wanted to try out both the delivery systems to see what works best for me. (I want Pyrex for the juices I smoke)

My DCTank cartridges are 1.8 (could be 1.5's) ohms which I think for the Provari is too low. (Also, I read that a single coil would probably be best.)
My Protank came with a 1.8 and a 2.2 ohm heads. I put in the 2.2
My voltage is typically at 3.4 where I have tried them all.

To be quite honest with you, I get more vapor and flavor from my V2 pass-through and the V2 EXBlank tank type system. This thing is kicking Provari's .....

How can i take advantage of my Provari and get the best flavor and vapor? what is the best ohm resistance/setting I should get for my Cartos and my Protank heads to maximize flavor? I love the Provari and everything else but I go back to my V2 setup cause I get more flavor.

(my juices are 80pg/20vg or 70pg/30vg)

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

My normal voltage is 3.7 to 4.1 depending on ohms & juice. I might go down to 3.4 if all I had was a 1.5 head. I raise mine about .2 V at a time until it tastes burnt, then back it off a little. Turn it up!

What ohms do you use? I have gone up in volts as you suggested but like you said, it starts to taste burnt so 3.4 works best.......

Whenever I put anything on my Provari's first I of course check the Ω's. If my device is at 1.9Ω, then I start off with the Voltage at 3.9, then adjust from there depending on the taste I like. I always +2 to the Ω's, and start out with that voltage, it hasn't failed me yet!

I mostly use genny's and some carto tanks, (but never check the carto's dry!!!), the Provari fires to check the resistance so therefore it will burn the carto if it is dry.

YES. This is great advice. I got my Mini just a few days ago and learned this the hard way. Also, when checking something with low resistance, dial the voltage down to 3.2 or so before putting it on to check it - for a similar reason...too high of a voltage can fry it while checking it.

I get Protank II heads in 2.5 Ohms (sometimes they read closer to 3.0, though), and I'm usually start vaping around 4.4 - 4.6 volts and then adjust accordingly. For 1.8 - 2.0 Ohms, I'm starting around 3.2 - 3.4 volts and going from there.

One weird thing that I've noticed is that sometimes the light on the button will go off while I'm holding it. It cuts power for maybe a second and then fires back up. It happens on an IBTanked carto-tank and on an iClear 30, but I haven't had it happen on a Protank II. The former are low res, while the latter is standard res. I don't know what's going on, but it happens fairly frequently.

Hi

While setting your power level is all about personal preference, compared to what I vape, your settings are low.

I can't comment on the dual coils, I use single coils, but if the resistance is too low for the ProVari to fire you will get an error code.

Below are my general settings, but are always adjusted for taste (which can change throughout the day).

I use 1.5Ω dripping attys on my 3.7v box mod, so I use 3.7v as a starting point when I use the same attys on the ProVari (or 9 watts if I'm using the Vamo), then dial up if it's cool or down if it tastes a little burnt.

My cartos are usually 2.0Ω, which I buy so I can switch between different devices. With a carto tank at that resistance, I fiddle around, but generally end up around 4v.

I currently have a Protank on with a 2.5Ω head. After fiddling around, the voltage is 4.1, that's about right, since (for me) the Protank performs better when it's cool.

I bought some 3.0Ω cartos for one of my tanks to see if I was missing anything. I just checked and it's set at 4.6v, but I know I've had it up to 5v.

As you can see, except for my dripping attys I like things on the cool side. The point is to vape for taste. Forget about charts and equations, just pick a point and go up or down. :)

Is that happening when you are firing and taking a drag? If so, the reason is the button. The ProVari button is centered and needs to be firmly pressed in the center. If I'm not paying attention and my thumb slides down the button side a little bit, it will stop firing.

Yes, it happens while it's firing and I'm taking a drag. I never use my thumb on the button, though; generally I use my pointer finger or middle finger. I'll pay more attention to that, though. Thanks!

The button is slick so it can happen easily, until you get to know your new baby better; it happens with other mods too. No matter which finger you end up using on the fire button, it will probably get sore. :)

Okay...thanks everyone for your input. I found a solution and now I LOVE my Provari!! As I mentioned, I am using a Smoktech Pyrex DCTank. It came with a dbl. coil cart which is at 1.8 ohms. At 3.4 V, I wasn't satisfied with the flavor and vapor. Higher voltage made it taste burnt.

At the same time I ordered my DCTanks, I also got some Boge cartridges for backup. I went back and checked them out to find that they are standard resistance and single coil. I switched the orig. cart out with the Boge. The Boge ohm is at 2.8. I set my volts to 5.4 and it is awesome! Finally I found something with tons of flavor and vapor. Thanks for your input!

Now a Very Happy Vaper!!!

Glad you figured things out. 3.0 ohm single coils are what Provape recommends, and that is what I find works best for me. I use a wide range of flavors, from fragile fruit flavors to coffee and tobacco. Each has their own sweet spot in voltage. I find the fruit flavors best around 3.5 volts to prevent a burnt taste. The coffee or tobacco like more voltage, maybe 4.0 - 4.5 volts. Experiment. With a new flavor I start low and gradually work higher in voltage in 0.2 increments until I find it's individual sweet spot.

I've found clearomizers to prefer a lesser voltage compared to cartomizers, perhaps by 0.5 - 1.0 volts, but thats me. I believe the ohms on most of my clearos are the 2.0 range. So I rarely go over 4 volts with clearos. My favorite clearos are the Kanger Protanks and Innokin iClear 30.

And although I agree with others that the "ohm rating + 2 = ideal voltage" is a good guideline, I also believe that the power charts are a useful general guideline for novice vapors to understand the relationship of ohms to voltage. But bottom line, adjust your voltage to the flavor to taste.

Personally, I suggest getting 2.5 ohm coils and turning it up to 4.2 - 4.5...juice depending of course. To really take advantage of the Provari you need to turn it up! :vapor:. I have several ego batteries, and now a vamo as well and the Provari trumps them all. No other pv yet has given me the same vape quality till the battery is drained like the provari has.
