Disappointing delivery

I‘m not having much luck with deliveries and wonder if this is just me being unlucky or whether others are experiencing a similar problem.

On the 5th October I ordered the “New mini-cig” from e-cig.com at a cost of $130. I then discovered this forum and quickly learned I might have made a mistake – though nobody seems to have got their “New mini-cig” from e-cig.com yet. The disposable atomizer might be promising but others here placed orders well before me and haven’t yet had anything delivered. I expect I’ll be waiting a while yet before e-cig.com deliver for me.

I just hope that I can rely on a delivery happening at some time but don’t find it acceptable when companies take orders, charge your account, can’t deliver, don’t advise you of any problem and continue to take orders. This is far too close to “rip-off” territory for my liking and – at best – the company is using our cash to avoid any risk. Taking orders for products not available I think dishonest. A supplier can be caught short but that should soon be flagged before further orders are made and customers with orders should be advised with a specific date when they can expect delivery. E-cigs.co.uk seems to me to be a good example of proper practice.

My next order was made on the 12th October for a Janty Classic (Extended) and included extra atomizer, carts and liquid amounting to a total cost of over £200. The delivery advice was “within 3-5 working days” which would have been Friday. Nothing arrived yesterday (5 working days) or today. OK – it’s hardly a big deal to be a little late but I am disappointed after keeping a keen eye out for the postie all day today. He only delivered a letter advising another increase in my gas bill :(.

There’ll be nobody at home to take delivery tomorrow so Wednesday will be the earliest time I’ll be able to pick it up – once it’s returned to central sorting. Not a crime (yet!) but I’m deflated.

My 3rd order was on the 14th October from theelectroniccigarette.co.uk for a black mini 901 (I think it’s a 901) + cartridges and liquid – a total cost of over £105. Ordering from a UK company I thought would surely have me e-smoking this weekend. Not so – this morning I got an apologetic email advising that stock was out but they hope to dispatch by the end of next week.

OK – it was disappointing to get this advice but theelectroniccigarette.co.uk were the only company that apologised and advised of a dispatch date.

I expect I’m just a little impatient but I’m disappointed too since after spending around £400 I’ve nothing to show for it and won’t until next weekend when – if I get a delivery – I can call to the central sorting office.

Of the 3 experiences I’d summarise – 1)e-cig.com are not operating in a business like manner – though they may have something innovative to offer (eventually), 2)Janty, for all their “high-end” market profile don't deliver within the time period they advise, and 3)Local UK distributors can disappoint too.

You're right Apostle - but I didn't order from Simon because he'd flagged where he was out of stock. He still had a pink e-cig available but I thought it'd surely clash with my tie ;).

Simon should be congratulated for advising customers of his stock. I'm sorry he lost my business because of it but I've registered as a user on his site and will certainly be using him in future. I like a supplier who tells you how it is - they are rarer than you think.

I feel sorry for you soot. I know how agonizing it is to wait for a new device. you really did just have a string of bad luck. but yeah, there needs to be a forum dedicated to e-cig complaints for the amount there are. be wary of ever doing business with them. they should be black-listed by all accounts. as for the others i reckon what with the recent mainstream publicity they are overwhelmed with the orders. just a case of bad-timing i guess.

I had to just order that pink one too, ha ha! they could catch on with the fancy-pancy pink shirt wearing crowd. "are you man enough to smoke pink?" - slogan.

DC - LOL! You lifted my spirits! I do have a pink tie but haven't (and won't) be getting a pink shirt. I do have pink shirts but they were created by my son putting a pair of red socks in the machine without me noticing.

The only men I know wearing pink shirts at work are those with pot-bellies, crocked teeth and have an intent on making a last ditch attempt to pretend they've a "feminine side". They're a walking insult to female intelligence!

On the e-cigs front, I regret not ordering a pinky from Simon. I'm in Belfast here - and will get the .... slagged off me once I produce a e-cig. I may as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb! ;)

Pete - 10 days is twice what Janty advise. Is this a postal or supply problem? Once a product is put in the mail it should be delivered (within the EU) in 3 days. 5 days shouldn't happen but can. After 5 days you start to ask questions.

Personally, I'd be happier if delivery is left at my door without being signed for since I'll not have to drive around to the sorting office, find somewhere to park (no parking is available) and then queue up for an hour on a Saturday along with everyone else that works for a living. For all the bad press that Belfast gets - any package left at my door has never been touched.

Trog - perhaps you're right. There has been increased publicity on e-cigs and demand has surely increased and me among them. Perhaps I'm caught by this and e-cigs are still a "small-scale industry" that might struggle to respond.

Despite this - there is clearly some bad practice in operation that could ruin reputations of decent dealers. When sellers have run out of stock they should not be taking further orders. Once a "out of stock" problem happens the customer should be advised when they can expect delivery and be given the option of canceling the order.

This is not happening at the moment.

Harry from Janty Europe sent me an email on 8th of October to tell me he had posted a couple of switches for me and they still haven't arrived ten days later. I don't know what's happened, I haven't had any problems with delays before. Someone was saying recently that it had something to do with Royal Mail being slow but even so, I don't see why there would be such a delay.

we have twenty pink atomizers.. the only colour left.. the guy sold his months stock overnight when the TV stuff hit the screens..

he knew we wouldnt care cos he knew we intend to take the paint off them.. but i predicted a sudden leap in demand as soon as i saw the TV coverage i think it caught a lot out..

trog

ps.. its not royal mail kate.. they have never failed me.. three days from hong kong to my door with a friendly smile from the postie lady is magic.. delay is down to being posted not in the postage..

blaming the royal mail is an easy way out for the supplier..

I don't know what the problem was, my emails went unanswered. I wasn't too worried, there was always the option to do a chargeback, more dissapointed.

I agree that I prefer a parcel to be left, but out in the garden was silly. There are plenty of places in our back garden that a parcel can be left under cover, this was left in the open, luckily it was the only dry day on Scotland for the past six months! If our postie can do it, I don't see why an expensive courier cant.

Pete - looks like Scotland has got better weather than we did this year - you're one day ahead! ;).

Trog, yep - the BBC coverage will have had something to do with this but that coverage was AFTER Kate's order and my orders from e-cig.com and Janty. I agree with you, it's often just too easy to blame the postie. Post and courier services in the UK are very good.
