I've decided to quit vaping. I've been doing for about 7 months now , and the original goal was to give up nicotine. I'm tired of the expense. Going thru coils like crazy, not sure why. I'm sick of having to go outside and deal with bugs or cold weather. I cough all the time anymore. It's just not worth it.
Any distraction ideas for the first day? If can go three days, I can do it. I've done it before, and the first day is the hardest. any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

Exercise is great for when you get edgy. Putting together puzzles is great-- occupies fingers, and I find it totally soothing, in a lot of ways, order out of chaos? Video games, TV etc., sure. Cooking nice meals for yourself? A drive? Soduku/word games/crosswords/etc. Beat everyone in the known universe at Words with Friends (too late, already done ) just things to keep you occupied. And, my personal favorite, go buy art supplies ESPECIALLY clay. You may or may not make something you feel is worth having, but you will have a lot of soothing fun with your hands.

Crunchy vegetables? Call old friends? Visit a pal who doesn't vape? Build a model airplane/truck/car whatever? Start learning an instrument, or start learning to sing?

I find fidget spinners pretty worthless, honestly. I could go on, but I assume you get the drift. I found yelling at the top of my lungs sometimes pretty helpful honestly.... But, that's me. Hot bath/shower. Cold bath/shower (I promise you THAT will change your mood, it's a guarantee, but it's not pleasant. Or, you could suspend your face in icewater while holding your breath a few seconds, a couple of times.. It activates the mammalian diving reflex, which we have as mammals-- it lowers heartrate blood pressure, etc., whales do it to stay underwater a long time. It sounds HORRENDOUS, but nothing chills me out that quickly (though I do sometimes have to redo my mascara afterwards).

Try feeling what you feel then changing what you feel. Alternate. Write why you are quitting and read it. Write in a diary.

Okay, Imma gonna stop, but Good Luck!

You've done it before ... just do it !!!
Focus on distractions just makes me think of why I try so hard to distract ... and in mental circles I go ... wheels turning.
Be impulsive/spontaneous when the nic urge strikes. Open closets/cabinets, dig around, sift through drawers, clean for 15 minutes, wash clothes, see how many radio stations you can pick up, make a pie, sing songs, yell, random stuff ... whatever to keep your mind and/or hands busy OR lay down a few minutes and take a power nap/meditate. But don't panic or give in. Laugh at the silly urge. Don't give it the power to control you. Walk away. Get a coloring book ... but stay between the lines ... or not ;)

Did you smoke before vaping? If so, are you going back?

When still smoking, reading a book kept my mind off of it. Video games? Walking? Gl
I will totally forget to vape when I'm reading or playing games. Walking, not so much; I vape like I smoked, and whenever I'm outside, that's what I'm/was doing.

If you've been vaping for 7 months, quitting nicotine now (should) be quite a bit easier. There's a lot of evidence to suggest that there's a LOT more to tobacco addiction than nicotine.

Keep your hands busy - whether something like in the link above will help is highly debatable, but it's a fantastic little distraction tool and I love mine (almost literally) to bits.

I tried a lot of things while I was a smoking quitter (semiprofessional, at least). Bourbon and food worked for me, I was getting rather plump and happy even with no smoking.
Other than that - only will power can help. It's right at least for me.

I don't vape when I'm doing something that takes 2 hands, especially if my hands are getting dirty. Sitting in front of the computer is the worst, makes me chain vape. If I wanted to quit vaping I would stay off the computer for a few days and do a lot of gardening and cooking. Maybe clean up the garage.

You are right 100%, but not about cleaning the garage.
I would vape like crazy trying to figure out how to start to clean my garage. And I would vape even more when I do figure out how to do it (because I'll hate it).

Yeah... I smoked for 40 years...... if not for learning to build coils I would still be smoking...... that just happened. ... I actually got into vaping and learned to build to vape things other than ejuice......

Found that vape gear generally works best for vaping ejuice. As i went from 1 or 2 packs a day to zero in 6 months without trying.

Wow!

I've been smoking since I was 11..) It was really hard to give up. Damn, when I'd seen a cigarette begun to tremble of its desire))One day I realized, that can live without tobacco. And when gave up after this, found vaping really interesting and started from 0 mg juice. Now, i'm a reviewer and sometimes partners have no such a level and send 1,5, 3, 6 mg juice to me.
I think, that nicotine spoils the flavor of juice.. Have no desire to vape all day, only sometimes, when test juice or to enjoy the flavor of juice with coffee or wine, but not addicted at all and use 0 mg and other juice give to friend or father.

The morality is: you are what you do yourself. Be strong and if you REALLY want to quit - you can do it in one day and without difficulties. But if you make a barrier, like "I'm addicted to nicotine! It's difficult! Or think, how good and comfortable it was with it" - this is your reluctance to give up, not of your brain and body.

Good luck![emoji6]

Yeah, the garage is a bridge too far. Maybe it would work as a scare tactic. Put the vape down or I'll make myself go and start working on the garage.
