Ok guys just ditched the idea tht my istick30 is gonna take me into unknown lands of the sub ohm territory. It's def a good mod to casually vape but I'm trying to create another atmosphere within my house. So took the .5 occ bck to the shop said they were bad which probably weren't. It was just the incapacity of my istick to fire them and got the 1.2 occ which in all cases produce great flav and modest clouds. All n all I'm looking for my first mech to step out of bounds and start a meteorologist dream.

I would def go with a full size tank the only reason I got the mini were the reviews of tht combo but my istick30 wouldn't fire the .5occ coils unless tht pack truly was bad. Bc I tried the outta five and would immediately place the rbc back on after trying each one which was reading around .8 so but the mini at .5 does produce chums of vapor and I want more.

Humble opinion here - "massive" vapor needs a lot of things lined up - good airflow, right heat flux in the coil(s), great wicking, higher VG, etc., etc.....

I run the STM and the STN on my iStick 30 and iPV Mini, and never have a problem with the 0.5 ohm heads firing. I've been futzing with subohm and have a few coils that are in the 0.8 ohm range, but I'm really beginning to think that I need "multi-coil" if I really want to make rain. I don't have any behemoth RDAs (I like the ones I have - don't get me wrong), but I think I need a 4-post so I can properly set dual coils. I just have a touch of trouble on a 3-post setup, getting the positives threaded well.... (and fat fingers don't help :) )

The only difference between the Kanger mini subtank and the full size tank is the amount of juice each holds. They both use the same coils. So if you don't like the amount of vapor you are getting with your current setup you're not going to get much more vapor using a mech mod due to the coil/tank limitations.

The problem you will run into when using subΩ clearomizers (with stock coils) is that you cannot "fine tune" your vape. On a mechanical mod your voltage drops as you vape, with a regulated mod this does not happen. Your first hit is just as good as your last hit. And then there may be a problem with under/over powering the stock coils given you have no way to "fine tune" using a mech mod.

Here's an example using the Atlantis 2 tank known to produce a lot more vapor (compared to the Kanger tank when using a high vv/vw mod). Below are the recommended ranges (per Aspire) for their new v2 coils.

1. 20-30W (0.5Ω coil)
2. 40-50W (1Ω coil)
3. 70-80W (0.3Ω coil)

1. 0.5Ω coil - On a mech mod with a fully charged battery (4.2v) you will be vaping at 35.28 watts. As the battery drains your wattage will go down. At 3.6v (when I normally recharged the battery) you would be vaping at 25.92 watts. You may have to take a few pulls without firing the battery to keep from getting dry hits when the battery is fully charged.

2. 1.0Ω coil - On a mech mod with a fully charged battery (4.2v) you will be vaping at 17.64 watts. As the battery drains your wattage will go down. At 3.6v you would be vaping at 12.96 watts. Pretty dismal performance (underpowered) running this coil on a mech mod given the recommended range of 40-50 watts.

2. 0.3Ω coil - On a mech mod with a fully charged battery (4.2v) you will be vaping at 58.8 watts. As the battery drains your wattage will go down. At 3.6v you would be vaping at 43.2 watts. Again, sub-par performance (underpowered) running this coil on a mech mod given the optimal range of 70-80 watts.

In conclusion, I wouldn't run these coils on a mech mod. I would get much better performance running these on a high vv/vw regulated mod.

If you really want to "create a new atmosphere", I would skip the mech mods. Sure, they're great and you can chuck clouds, but you'll get much bigger clouds off of something like a Sigelei 150w and a airy RDA like the Mutation Xv4. That is my daily driver at 150W, using a 24g kanthal, 3.5mm 7 wrap dual parallel coils. The huge coils make that a slightly warm vape with big, dense clouds. I use juice that is usually 70VG+, but if the juice is good I'll get something with a little more PG. I prefer a lighter TH, so I usually stick to high VG juice, preferably Max or 99% VG juice at 3mg nic.
