I've been vaping and making my own fluid a year now, want to endeavour into making my own coils and saving more money. What's the best / easiest base to buy and supplies to use? How long between replacementof fiber or cotton on do it yourself coil and base? Best prices and websites and supplies information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would recommend something inexpensive initially to see if rebuildings really for you, before spending a lot more on something you may not even like.

The IGO-L (two posts for single coil) and IGO-W (three posts for single or dual coils) are inexpensive yet nice quality RDA's to start out on.

Eciggity is a decent website that sells cloned RDA & RTA's.

I get most of my supplies (Kanthal) from RTD Vapor or my local vape shop. You may find these blogs helpful:

Cotton will last you a day or two - and then it'll have to be replaced. The coil can be used for ages, just keep replacing the cotton.

The general procedure is a 'dry burn' so you remove the old wick - heat the coils to burn the crap off them and then replace the cotton.

I don't have the time and patience for that, so i use silica or ceramic wicks and get a week at a time before i have to do that (usually a work week oddly enough!)

i rebuild kanger heads for Protank style clearomizers.... i cheat and use these. Pre-Coiled Welded Wires w/ Wicks - NR-R-NR (50-Pack)

sometimes i rewick with cotton, sometimes i use the silica included. with cotton, i change the cotton and dry burn every other day, with silica i change the whole coil every 8 days

Drippers tend to have the least amount of learning and highest success rate, its actually pretty difficult to fail coiling and wicking on those.

Recoiling some of your old coil heads is possible, they aren't particularly hard to do but take a little more dexterity and tax old eyes without help of some magnification.

Kayfun style atomizers are usually middle of the road for learning but once you have the skill down its a snap.

Older tank style atomizers like the genesis is going to either thrill you with the challenges or frustrate the heck out of you, they seem so simple, they can be the most difficult to get right.

I'd say go with something along the lines of an Aspire Nautilus, simply because if you find you don't like recoiling and rewicking you can use the store purchased coils and be done with it. You aren't going to need to adjust your juice nicotine content drastically with this device.

Or go with a dripper and be ready to buy lower nicotine content juices, the dripper atty tends to consume more juice and produce much more vapor.

You're gonna love the taste. It may blow your mind. As others will tell you 28g kanthal and cotton. I use blunt tip needles to wrap on. If you make juice you probably have those. And I'm using a quasar clone that I got for $25 at my local b&m. Taste is unbelievable. Make sure you build to what your batteries can handle. Idk if you have mech or reg... probably reg. You'll get the hang of it real quick. And its fun. You'll also need some small pliers, screwdrivers and wire cutters (nail clippers will work too) ohm reader or multi meter. Mod will work if it has the capabilities. Look at rip trippers you tube for techniques. You can make any coil he does at any resistance with more or less wraps. Enjoy my friend
