DIY Disaster Chronicles

Lots of great recipe ideas at ECF, but I think there is as much to learn with what NOT to do as well. Since having started DIY almost 3 weeks ago, I've had some disasters. I definitely learned some lessons on what NOT to do.

Here are a few recipes I will never again do in my life:

(1) RY4 Triple Fail - 5% each of: Double RY4, Caramel Candy and Vanilla -- If double RY4 is great, then Triple RY4 must be better, right? Hahahaha! NO.

(2) RY4 Dulce de Lechery - 5% each Double RY4 and Dulce de Leche, and 1% Hazelnut - Want a nice creamy RY4? You will be better off adding milk... or Half and Half, for more vapor. With this e-liquid, I learned that steeping has a parallel universe: some liquids start off awesome. go bad when they steep, and take a turn for the worst, as they steep more.

Lesson: Steeping may be over rated in certain circumstances. Some recipes need to be power vaped and consumed as fast as possible.

(3) DIY Domino effect of Lameness - When you accidentally tip over an open 8ml bottle of RY4 Type 1, which then tips over an open 8ml bottle of Caramel, which then tips over an open 8ml bottle of French Vanilla, you believe you can save the massive $4.47 loss you sustained by figuring you now have perfectly mixed equal parts of all 3 ... why wait another week for a new shipment, when you can take out your syringe right now, suck them clean off your table, try to save them by making the most awesome accidental e-juice ever created?

... Untold genius? ... NO.

(4) Caramel Kettle Cornhole - 5% each of Kettle Corn, Caramel Candy and Hazelnut. I was expecting a nice sweet Kettle Corny taste! Oh yesss... But really, it was like... ... on the first vape.

I tried it with my friend a couple of days later. Result? ...

(5) Halo Tribecan't - want to reproduce that super rich exotic toasted bittersweet tail end chase of the famous Halo Tribeca? Think you're smart and figured out that Tribeca does have a bittersweet chocolatey ingredient? Whatever you do, do not use Double Chocolate (Dark) on it. Especially at 2.5%. If there is a recipe for making the perfect taste of earth's DIRT, this would be it. Don't forget to put in 8% of Double RY4 and 1% Acetyl Pyrazine to round out the flavor of this colossal e-liquid feculence.

This is all for today, but it will only be a matter of time before I will have a brand new inventory of DIY Disasters.

+1 On Deluce de leache if used correctly Like 2% would have been good. But very funny post I enjoyed reading it. I've had my moments as well. Like when a dark vape tobacco flavor gave me some insight as to what used toilet paper would taste like if vaped

Honestly I don't remember the exact proportions, it just had way too much of Lorann's Bavarian cream and strawberry. I got some Bavarian cream from tfa (haha, somehow autocorrect transformed that to Bavarian clam, which would be waaay worse than anything I could ever imagine). I've been scared to try Bavarian cream in anything since that first disaster.

I've also made a killer "Putrescent Peanut Butter". Too much of anything can be bad.

+1 on the bavarian cream. Mine is either spoiled or it just magically tastes like sour milk.

No, I haven't made anything that tastes like Baby Powder. I mixed some TFA Hibiscus @ 2% it should have been 0.5%

Burn Rubber Baby! aka Exits 12 through 13a on the NJTP Mix up 5-10% TFA Blackberry. Don't bother with those small tester bottles, they're for wimps. That doesn't smell good and my eyes are watering. So add 5% Sweet Cream. Aaaaaaah! Smells like the ride to Newark Airport.

that is how i feel about the tfa cheesecake...altho i did have two disasters with it (first time must have been my bad right?)...can't fool me a third time! LOL

I can't get cheesecake to work for me either. I always wonder if these two flavors have a chemical in them that only certain people can taste (perhaps barfizine or barfaldehyde?), kind of like broccoli does. I do, however, love real cheesecake.

I just made some Crappuccino. Way too much Bavarian Cream at 2%. Uggghhh. It's all I can taste and way too sweet. Re-did the batch last night fingers crossed. I have a bunch of samples steeping as I'm a relative Newb and I think I'm going to skip the 10% Bavarian. I have a feeling in a week I'm going to be tasting and it'll go something like this. Flavor 1 - mmmmm good. Flavor 2 wretch, funny face, tounge sticking out. Great thread BTW.

Thread is hilarious! Cat piss coffee anyone??? I've read everywhere how hard it can be to make a "good" coffee vape, but since it's one of my fave's...gotta keep trying...Didn't feel so bad, although kinda disgusted, when I read somewhere urine is one of the flavor notes in coffee flavorings..EWWWWW! I figured I must be onto something, I mean I brought out one of the flavor notes right??!!
